• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My daughter wants a bike...

Put my daughter on a CRF 50 at six and she crashed alot, bars would twist out of her hands. Put her on a XR 70, heavier yes but crashed alot less and had more fun. I think the little wheels on the 50,s may be a hindrence. I welded adjustable steering stops on a friends CRF 50 and that helped the kiddo a bunch. They dont need trials bike turning anyway. XR 70 is just sitting in the garage if you want to try it, 200 miles away!
Have fun and that is precious time she will never forget. My daughter is ten and I put her on a TTR125 last summer at nine, I lowered it and yes the clutch was a issue of fustration but it passed. We rode the Bad Rock reunion ride last weekend together. Ive seen the "boy" thing with a friends daughter and bikes, I told her "dont all the boys ride?" O-ya she said, cost her dad new riding gear that was more "look at me" but he still has his riding buddy. My daughter was sitting on a 81 WR250 in the garage, core bike and said "I think I want this one for my next bike dad, wiped a tear and started on it last night.

Logan just turned six and still has an occasional problem with the CRF50 and the sharp turning with small wheels. Instacrashes in corners if he doesn't point his foot out. Is now just starting to get the whole kick thing figured out... many many diggers now... lots of fun... but lots of Daddy on Duty helping.... learning to shift is another whole learning concept... 1st 2nd 3rd made no sense to him so we go with turtle wolf and cheetah.... works great... I think the move up to the KX 65 will work well in about six months. The shifting without clutch is a good transition.

Quality time with your kids can't be matched. I'm sure she will appreciate her first bike and first ride with dad. A Kodak moment for sure.

I snagged a nice PW80 from buddy Jakes brothers barn. I knew there was one close, there always is if you ask around.

her turn is here and I think i will make a lot more of it. She is my last and my 2 older kids are all off doing other things so this is our time. Really looking forward to making a kick butt dirt rider out of her.

Kelly, I had 4 daughters & a bike around for each. My youngest daughter was the only one that took to it. We have had many rides & many good times together. She was my tomboy & didn't mind the pain or getting dirty. She has a CRF230 now but is having a baby soon so it will be interesting to see if grandma will babysit while we go riding.:) Enjoy that little girl while you can & keep it fun.

Just picked up a 97 KE 100 for wife and daughter to try out. I'll get pics up soon. State inspected and ready to go.

Here it is. Cleaned up real nice. Took a few laps around the neighborhood and up to the gas station. 2 gallon tank. So far, 18 yr old daughter loves it. My wife just rolled her eyes.

I bought my son a CRF50F when he was seven. Start them young and they will be the next generation of riders.
