• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My EJK chronicle

The cats are too far down stream to effect the O2 sensor. But running a tuner with the cats could generate too much heat and start burning plastic panels. They can clog up and cause an exhaust restriction. The cats can't handle the extra loads that the tuner is supplying. It could be one of multiple reasons for the lean fuel mixtures.

I got my EJK today and I have it installed. A card was included with my EJK. It is for a rental of an AFR guage from Dobeck Performance. They are advertising a web site at www.SAFRtool.com. It indicates one week rental of 46.00 for one week and includes shipping both ways.

Got that in the mail too. If I lived in the states I would have gone for it.
Should anyone bite the bullet and go for it I'd paypal some money for the results.

They have internal heaters. Mine and I suspect most of the TR's heat up in just a couple of minutes. My cats are out and it's still a hot freaking exhaust header.

I have the guage installed and went for a quick spin. Holy cow it it lean between 3000- 5000, its running between 14.5- 15.0. Great at full throttle running 12.5 with no ping. Yippie. Going out for another spin after talking to Dobeck.

Settings are : 7.0-3-.5-2-3-3-4.5

Its good while cruising but when you give it full throttle it is lean at 15.5-16 AFR.

So are you leaning towards a power commander now, or are you happy with the performance.

Hey, can you unplug the ejk and take some basics on how it runs in default?

Yes. It is way faster. I am still working on it. Now I know why they give you a week. I had to move the EJK up on the bars. They want me to keep track what the lights on the controller are reading while it is running lean. I will talk to them on monday. It is crazy how lean it is running at some rpm its 16.5 to 17 for the afr.

Wow, they really are helping you out on this.

They are way cool. It was tough explaining its a Husqvarna running a BMW motor. Thats when he told me if I need it to go richer I can send it back and they can adjust it. I am giving it fuel and it still running 16.5 in some situations. I just have to get the switch points down. I am going to go richer on the top end. I am shocked with the difference in the throttle response.

I'm curious since you have the AF meter on there, what the bike would do if it was just running in the default mode. Just unlpug the ejk and make a few runs seeing if it is richer or leaner with or without the ejk, and where it does it's magic.

Are you running any ait or booster wuka gadget?

Baddrapp, you're showing seven settings: 7.0-3-.5-2-3-3-4.5

On my Wiseco (Dobeck) unit there are only 6 settings. Three for fuel and three for crossover points. If your EJK actually has 7 what is the additional setting for?

I can post later today with what I have it at, but I am still messing with the settings. I planned on talking to Dobeck today but I have to post pone the telephone call till tomorrow. I want to be out on the bike while I am talking to them.

Thanks Baddrapp,

Could you post the changes you've made to your bike e.g. intake, exhaust, etc. I have everything stock at the moment and the only change I plan to make, other than the Lawn Boy pre-filter, is to install the Uni filter + frame in place of the existing filter and seal the divider in the airbox. Your very lean indications are definitely a concern and I wonder if it's all associated with changes you've made.
