• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My IMS Tank is Alive!

This sounds like a good idea and that I would probably do.

I've read too many bad posts on aftermarket tanks so I've decided not to buy one. I've never had a problem with my 09 510SM's tank so for longer trips I'm carrying the spare. x2 fuel cans one litre each in a Kriega tailpack. Cans £10.00 each. Pack £25.00. For shorter trips dump it and run with the standard tank. Saved a bunch of £'s and a bigger bunch of bother.

I received my new replacement tank from IMS within a few days after Just Gas Tanks made good on their warranty. Very good customer service from both companies! Anyway, I installed my new tank properly a week ago and have not rode the bike at all. I walked into the garage and smelled a gas odor from the area where my bikes are resting. NOT AGAIN! I found my new (2nd) tank leaking from the same area where the fuel pump is located. I have not had an opportunity to ride my bike with this new tank on and it is leaking. I know that I am not doing anything wrong during installation, but why is this happening? Is it coincidence? Should I try a black tank? I live in So. Cal., is anyone out here have the same problem? I am sad again.

I am having the exact same issue. leaking around the fuel pump gasket.

I have tried everything from honda bond the Black RTV... nothing is working!! I am also Sad

did you ever fix your issue with it leaking around the fuel pump Gasket?

I have had good luck in the past on some float bowl gaskets (a British and a Japanese bike) by taking the time to evenly wrap the float bowl gaskets(s) with Teflon tape. Get some 1/2" or 3/4" tape and angle it at the start and "fatten" the gasket up as you see fit. Button it up see how it goes. My fixes held up without another issue.

I free vent my fuel tanks on my Husky's. I have seen the check valves pressurize the tank, so I don't use them. Pressurizing can clearly warp a fuel tank.

Keep in mind this is a really old thread, some of the people that previously posted may no longer log into this site - just do not want you to be disappointed.

IMS says Hylomar M (previously Hylomar Racing Formula) is an outstanding gasoline-resistant sealant.

I have a 2011 TE310 and my IMS 2.9gal has sprunk a leak around the gasket on the bottom of the tank as well. Fortunately, IMS is sending me a new tank, but I'm not looking forward to getting everything out of the leaky tank and into the new one! :(

I bought a new aftermarket fuel pump from someone who purchased one and then sold their TE. Do you guys think I should replace the stock fuel pump while I'm in there? (If there's a better place to ask let me know Coffee.) I had the bike stall on me in 100*+ weather but I think it was vapor lock because it went right back to normal later that day. I'm planning to seal the bottom gasket with Hylomar and hopefully avoid this whole fiasco moving forward.
