  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My new TXC449

After having some issues with my 2010 TXC450, I decided with the help of the guys down at Tri County Powersports to trade up to a 2011 TXC449. The transaction and service was second to none and the 449 is now mine. She comes stock with a large, quiet, downtuned pipe which I removed and replaced with the provided aftermarket Akropovic pipe. The bike looks, sounds and functions better with the Akro pipe. It also comes with a plug bolt which would replace the o2 sensor on the header which I have a question about.
Will pluging the hole and removing the sensor hinder, complicate or affect anything about the bike?
For now, I just changed the pipe.
Took her out to Hungry Valley OHV for a first run and wow, what a bike. First off, it turns everyones heads and attracts rider questioning, so be preparred. I started the ride on some faster flat sections, leading into sandy whoops and turns, leading into some semi tight trails. Pulls hard with amazing throttle response. Braking is smooth and efficient. Front end floats around a bit at higher speeds, and in sandy sections, a steering dampner and rider education will be necessary. The suspension in the whoops and bumps felt great, however will need to tune them a bit for the tighter more technical sections. The new rear fender shape is truly noticed when going into a whoop section and getting tapped by an unfamiliar shape.
Came back from my ride and noticed alot of material and smearing on my rear sprocket. Took a closer look and noticed that the sprocket was rubbing heavily inside the guide and has now melted onto the sprocket. I think shimming the guide out would help the issue. Other than that, I haven't stopped thinking about the ride and waiting for the weekend and another ride.
Please let me know some more info about the provided power-up kit and its details, thanks.
