• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My right wrist is killing me!!

No bone on bone, mine is a tendon problem in my hand that prevents full rang of motion of the wrist. The tendon doesn't flex like it should possibly due to repeated sprains. I'm not sure that this is 100% of the cause and it is most likely a complex problem. I don't have a lot of confidence in doctors as they seem to practice a lot of trial and error at our expense. My grandpa once said 80% of people die in the hospital so stay the hell out of the hospital. :oldman:

Yep, doctors can be way off lots of times on treatments ... I'd get a second opinion on treatment for this injury ...

Or just read the web and try to do the prognosis yourself ...

Let me know what you find out and I will try to find out if the closed and open chamber springs are the same, if so that would be great. The rear sag is set almost perfect but I'm sure it will change a small amount when I get the front right.(probably nothing a little preload adjustment wouldn't fix) I was going to put in a lighter oil when I change the springs but had not thought of 0 weight. I was going to look for the lightest synthetic 5 weight.

Bottom line is it sucks getting old but I'm willing to do what ever it takes to keep riding.
Does SUCK getting old**************************************** I always tell Halls I want my bike to feel kike a KDX 200!!! I would rather have plushness all the time and save it when I have to (I>E> deep hole WFO top gear!!) I'm not sure on the springs, let me know if they can help you out. Price is cheap if they will work. You pay shipping and buy beers one night if we ever ride together!!!(ps No limit on my beers and I must say I don't drink beer often but when I do I drink DOS EQUIS****************************************! (may be cheaper to but em!!LOL

Halls said that the springs I have should work fine and that a re-valve would remedy the harsh mid problem. They wanted me to wait a couple weeks before I send them since in they would be short handed while 2 mechanics were in a school. I took the forks apart today and changed to a lighter oil to get by for the next two weeks. Plus no 4 hour rides until my wrist is back in shape. Any beer that I have is all yours, I prefer Irish whiskey anyway.

doug, you ever get "tennis elbow" i got this the last big concrete job we did from finnishing it with a hand trowel/mag its the only thing i can think of itd be from. hurt like hell for awhile(a good month or so) after the job was done but has since faded. i get the pain occasionally form ridin aswell but not as bad.

I never got tennis elbow, in fact every injury that bugged me while playing tennis was pre-existing from other crazy stupid things I had done in the past. The guys I know that had tennis elbow claimed that just the thought of shaking someones had would bring tears to their eyes. Probably like everyone on this forum I could tell hours of embellished campfire stories about fist fights and getting thrown by mules or attempting Evil Kenevil stunts on my bicycle. I refrain because I believe it's like deer heads on the wall, nobody gives a crap about them except the guy who killed it. lol

So very true.

i feel your pain whiterocket! i get it fairly regularly(tennis elbow/tendonitis & has hyper extended-ouch) feels like its gonna snap if you move it, all locked up. gets to the point sometimes where i gotta wind car window down with left hand. good excuse to not do weights anymore but sux when riding sometimes. legacy of aussie rules football :)

glucosamine, fish oil, massage & rapigel! tendons get bugger all blood flow(ortho surgeon filled me in on this after id snapped my achilles...highly not recommended-very slow recovery & youd be amazed how handy that thing is, try doing everything flat footed, no running, jumping or tip toes) so massage good to get blood flowing/heat in the area. glucosamine good for all joints & it does make a difference(double drop em every day-degenerative recond knee). fish oil dont hurt either plus itll give you a nice shiny coat. rapigel(australia) is an anti inflam gel only available from vets(for racehorses) but this shit is gold, id realy struggle without it sometimes. takes away the pain & swelling really...er rapidly! short term mask but im not kidding its awesome. and no i havent started eating hay but i have noticed my jog to sprint(ha!) transition has become more trot to gallop! possible wild card in the melbourne cup this year.

Sounds good! Revalve does wonders with the mid stroke harshness in a zoke!!! Hope it works good for you!!! Lighter oil helps alot to!!!

Maybe get some of the pillow handgrips or some grips that are softer also ... I can tell a difference in my comfort level with grips that have some padding ...

I had already purchased some pillow top grips but had not put them on yet, I will today though. It can't hurt and is cheap to try. From taking it easy for the last 10 days or so the pain has let off so I started using those hand grip exercise devices to strengthen the forearm along with ice and heat it seems to be helping. I'll probably just ride my trials bike for the next week or so until I'm confident my wrist can take more.

Nearly all my nagging injuries were carried over from other sports that I have done in the past, but because motorcycles require complete fitness, any chink in the armor is quickly revealed.

Ice prevents swelling as it keep blood from forming in a specific area of the body ... Heat should add flexibility(?) .. I shower with very hot water each morning and ESP after riding ... This has done me alot of good on my broken collar bone injuries from nagging pains ... And seems to help my body with the neck pains I seem to get from day long rides ....

Never heard of rapigel but maybe I'll stumble across some here and try it ...My wrist builds into ice-pick-inserted type pain at the end of the day and then resets itself over night to almost zero so short term relief is all I really need ...

Shaw ... I'll put show money down on you if I see you in the Melbourne cup anytime soon ... Do yourself a favor and get a female jockey ... I've heard they are very good with the whip :) ... Coming down the home stretch, what's wrong with a little whipping?

giddy on up! she can whip me but i wanna ride her :)

I realize I'm only hiding the problem, but I like to take 2 200mg Aleve tablets before a day of riding (especially if it's the second or third in a row) and one before weight training.

Oh how right you are**************************************** I have a nagging (well really my knee is shot!!!) knee injury. What to do?? Build the muscle above and below the point of injury so it is supper stong and you can stress ahe injured part less!! Yes this may mask it, but works somewhat for my knee!!
