• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My Terra accessories

having jammed my knee in a handguard bolt sticking out like made me want to make sure you did not experience that displeasure.

I have the same reaction when I see people with sports bikes with aftermarket windscreens which don't have a big fat rounded edges and just have a 2mm crosssection edge facing the rider. I have a 4" scar across one of my knees which is my constant reminder that this is a bad idea.

Yeah, and for the price, they charge you really have to love it !! $AU185 including tax, but it really needed something to push the air off my chest. Its only small but the top has a turned up lip so it's more effective than it appears.

The handguards look like they'll do a good job of keeping the cold wind off the knuckles, but it's currently 102F here, so that will need to wait a few months before I can find out.

The hand guards on mine have not proven to keep the finger tips from going numb but it's got to be better than no guard...right? I think the heated grips will be the best bet.

Hey, i see very good accesories for Terra. I just order the windscreen, can you tell about the real proteccion, and air turbulences?.
I pretend to put a it upper on the screws.

The touring windscreen from Husqvarna is very effective and does not cause air turbulence for the rider. I am very happy with mine.

I'm 6ft tall and find it to work quite well. I get a little wind on the top my shoulders, but the buffeting is MUCH better. I recommend it.

On second thoughts.. I went out to a tool shop during my lunch break today and bought a torx socket set. Job was much easier with that. Here are a few pics.

The only thing I can see which isn't so great about this plate is in that last pic where that hose is just pushed back a bit from the path it would like to take, and there's a potential there for vibration to cause the plate to cut or wear through the hose I think. I'll wrap the section of hose which might make contact in a few layers of gaffer tape and put add a note to my checks schedule to inspect it's condition every thousand km or so.

Perhaps you could slide a larger ID piece of fuel line over that portion of the hose? Also, breaking the sharp edge that contacts the hose with a file might help as well. Nice bike.

Thanks. The foam is in there. It's black and almost impossible to see in those photos. B&B shipped the plate with foam block included.

Hey Nev, Nice pics and bike! when your doing any major dismantling to the bike such as fitting the B&B plate or frame components, use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the threadlocker. I didn't use the foam, and havnt noticed much extra noise if any. I could see it getting wet or full of muck. For the breather I use Velcro rap with a dab of glue underneath.

Also drip a couple of drops of glue to the end of the mounting bolts, if the nut comes loose you won't lose it and when the glue goes hard it can be easily removed with pliers

Hey Nev where did you source your handguards from, I noticed you were able to keep the bar end caps on, looks cool.
I had the power mod done yesterday and I agree WOW

They are the factory Husqvarna handguards (from memory they have BMW part number stamped in them and they are straight off the G650GS).

I found that drilling 20-30 holes in my B&B bash plate quietened the vibes down considerably and also made it easier for mud to escape and or get hosed out

Are they structural at all? Any metal or just plastic?

Part number?

(I really like having the OEM weights in the end of the bars)

Hi nev.. Your Husky looks brilliant ! I'm new in the Husky family and would love to know where did you buy those mirrors? I'm not the big fan of the original mirrors.. Thanks in advance ! Cheers !

The mirrors are the same as, or similar to, what are commonly known as "Tuono" mirrors. I think they were first standard fit on the Aprilia Tuono in the early 2000s, but are also found as OEM mirrors on various Aprilia and Moto Guzzi as well as the BMW F650GS and F800GS.
You can find them on ebay for about $20-40. Search for tuono mirror or F800GS mirror and you will find them.
