• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My Terra, and what I'm plannig with the bike...

Torque

Husqvarna
Well, I've bought one, and it's standing next to my house. That's where I am right now, didn't even botter to have at registered this year, will do so next week. Only rode it from the dealer to my place, about 50km of mixed roads.

Now, why did I get one? Have a BMW R1150GSA as a holliday bike (next to the daily commuter which is a 2014 XT1200ZE Super Tenere) and wanted to have something lighter because, face it, a GSA isn't the lightest adventure bike on the market. I have the Yamaha for going on mostly road oreintated trips, so somehting else for the more all-road trips was needed.
Started looking at second hand bikes, wasn't planning on investing much more than the GSA would sell for, but figured that buying a second hand adventure bike (KTM 950/990Adv, BMW XChallenge, KTM 690Enduro etc...) would be a huge risk, and I don't want to end up with someone else's troubles.
One of my customers has two Terra's at home for him and his girlfriend, and they're really happy with the bike they told me, so I got interested. I didn't think I'd find a new one, since they stopped making them over a year ago, but hey, a dealer near Brussels managed to track a new one down, apparantly a Greek bike, coming to Belgium via a Dutch transporter/importer.
Anyaway, the price was so interesting that I took the dealers Strada for a test ride, the engine felt powerfull enough to have fun on the road, and it didn't vibrate more than a BMW boxer engine. Two things I was worried about since I'll be using the Husky on the long distance as well as on a dirt/gravel track. Both things were fine, ordered one and now it's standing next to my place.

Than, what am I plannig with the bike? First off al, I'm plannig of creating (because no one in the world seems to have one) a Rally fairing with other head lights. The stock head light is a joke, and a bad one. The light is emiting everywhere, exept in front of the bike. Klicking the high beam results in even more light everywhere, and me getting blinded by this blue light coming from the dash. Nope, don't like, don't want it, it has to go. Will probably be using Hella's orso to replace it.
Extra space available above the dash will be used for the Tripy and GPS.
Next are ROX risers, AltRider skidplate and crash bars, AltRider Hemisphere tankbag and saddle bags, SW Motech center stand and luggage rack (the AltRider saddle bags need a luggage rack as support, and the SW Motehc can easily and quickly be taken off when not needed).
Heated grips, and the wiring for my Exo² heated jacket will also be installed.
Thinking of replacing the stock exhaust with a single left one, gives me the possibility of installing a spare fuel reservoir on the right side.
Regarding looks, the red tank pannels will have to go, either white or black, and the rims will be black painted with that rubber paint, don't like silver rims.
Whilst I'm fiddling with the new fairing, I might try to change a few things before finding out it's too late, like the air filter mod, the EWS ring mod...

Anywayz, since y'all now what a stock Terra looks like, I'm nog gonna bother with putting pics in this tread yet, progress will be shown and explained along the way, hoping ot have it ready beginning of April.

Grtz, Philip!

Enjoy..... theres a ton of great info around here and over at adv rider. There is just something about this bike. Little support now from ktm... owners are just hornery and wont let go.

Hi Philip! :D

Not a full-on rally fairing. But there has been reports on here of a Lynx Dual Sports fairing working well: http://www.britanniacomposites.com/index.php/productmenu/lynxmenu
Not cheap though, and you'd also need to replace the front fender.

I chose the Powermadd risers over the Rox. Cheaper and they are 1 piece.
For the bash plate you can also consider the Scheffelmeier one. I did a report on the mods I did on motorpraat.be ;)

He duibhceK, had wel gedacht u hier tegen te komen :D
Thanks for pointing me in the Husky direction, not that I didn't know the bike existed, but would've never bothered with contacting your dealer asking if he can still get one. Gladd I did.

I've looked at the Lynx fairing before, I'm not saying it's no good, but since it's not a full-on fairing and it doesn't seem to exist for the Terra, I'm not tempted to buy that one. Will have a go myself before doing so, could be a good back-up idea for when I screw up :p
I'm going for the ROX risers, and the AltRider parts, since I'm selling those items. I'm not gonna fit stuff on my bike that I don't sell, would be kind of stupid if a customer asks for that part and me having to say I can't get it.
Besides, I'm convinced the ROX and AltRider parts are as good as any other quality items from other cunstructors.

First, have it registered now, and instal the bash plate, crash bars, center stand, tank bag & luggage rack, the rest of the parts is still coming.

Grtz, Philip!

Wait until you actually get to do a long ride on it, you may still change your mind :p
Paul D. from Goed Motorrijden is selling his XCountry, just sayin'... :busted:

I'm looking forward to see what you come up with. A proper rally fairing would look awesome on the Terra.

Definitely quality stuff. I didn't even know you started selling the Altrider stuff as well.
