  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need help with measuring 250 clutch parts

J.R.

Husqvarna
AA Class
So I bought a slipper clutch for my '06 TC250 from GP cycles. Well it doesnt fit on my bike, even though it came off a 250 of the same generation. I think it came of a TE model.

So I was wondering if some of you guys with a 2005-2007 TC AND TE model 250 could get some measurements of the layshaft for me. The shaft where the clutch slides onto. (If your bike is apart at the moment, and if you would be so kind...) Im looking for the distance from the end of the shaft to the shoulder of where the bronze sleeve sits. Mine measures approximately 27mm. Im wondering if other year TC's or TE measure differently.

Im also looking for a measurement on the clutch basket of said bikes. I need to know the distance from the back side of the gear on the basket to the inside of the basket. Thats also where the bronze ends. So maybe grab the length of the bronze sleeve?

I know this is a LOT to ask, but if you have your bike near me, I would gladly turn the wrench while you watch.. Burgers on me too!

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, maybe if this would have happened about a month ago as I had my engine torn apart then. Hopefully not again anytime soon. Might want to call some experts (i.e. Uptite or Halls) for help. Might get lucky and catch them with an engine torn down. Good luck!

Thanks. Ill see what else I can dig up... I just need to get some other parts in my hands to figure this out. GP cycles isnt much help, they said these kind of parts usually require some work to fit into the bike. Which sounds pretty stupid to me considering its coming out of a 05-07 250 and going into the same! Theirs was a 6 speed, but we took some measurments and the layshaft on th 5 spd and 6 spd appear measure the same in the critical areas. Or so he has told me. I need to measure a 6spd shaft myself and really compare it to the one on my 5spd. Its hard to try and compare things over the phone, cuz the person on the other end may be looking at a slightly different area of the part.. among other variables.
