• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need parts for my 83 500 XC - I know you have them, give them up :)

Some of you might have seen my latest aquisition.

I'm not going to do a full restore, at least right now. It is 95% intact so I just want to get it ridable and ride it. Here is a short list of things it needs ASAP to get it rolling enough to give it a test ride.

If you have these parts let me know and I'll buy them from you now. If not please let me know where I might find stuff.

1. Air filter and cage.
2. front wheel bearings, this on is EZ I know just wondering if anyone knows the bearing numbers so i can grab some. If not will yard them and go get some. EZ.
3. left side number plate plastic
4. graphics / stickers for tank and side panels.

does this have a lighting coil?

BTW I am going to get it running and ride it some and then install and sort a Lectron carb for it. I will updates as I progress.

Thanks for your help all. This is my first one of this vintage and I know nothing about them so feel free to walk me through it like the noob that I am.

Right now I have not even kicked the bike over. The guy I got it from said it has strong spark and wants to fire. I want to address a few things and get a air filter ASAP before i give it a go.

thanks
Kelly

The bike looks like it should have a lot of use left, the majority of it's useful life if I read the rubbed off paint from the anlkes correctly.

1) Twin air filter missing cage doesn't sound good, surely not something that gets worn out.
2) 6302 2rs that means two rubber seals
3) don't look at me for restore grade stuff
4) I don't do that stuff

There is a yellow wire that leads to a small rectangular thing half the size of a pack of cigarettes. That is 12 volt 35 watt but most likely ac. Go to the vintage reference section and get the file 81-88 tech data it will tell you some stuff, more stuff about your other one you put the modern forks on.

DC Plastics might be able to set you up with plastic and graphics. Good luck and sweet bike.

just ordered a filter and cage from Ebay, guy in Yakima. One of you guys?

- Contacted seller he is a CH dude. Nice.

Drew has been running vintage Huskys in AHRMA and between internal knowlege, valve shim testing, etc has got the ITC's down to a sweet formula. Each step/imporvement got better each time and I have never been happier. Think the 99.9% solution is achieved. Fred Hoes ran it to an overall at the ISDT RR.

Thanks Joe. Will ride the bike a few times and wort it out. might have to send the shocks off to Drew. I hear these ITC shocks can be made to work very good. The thing feels old school uber soft and couch like just like my CR480 honda did. Feels like it has 2 feet of marshmallow suspension. Seems like it would rule in the rocks but might be a handful int he faster dez stuff. We will see. Shocks seem to be intact, not leaking and for sure have damping.
