As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
My bike is at the shop now But is waiting on the throttle cable holderm az it has not come in yet. i have no idea when my bike will be done. As soon as i know i will give an up date.
When I de-restricted mine (sold to me as an unrestricted) it's quite a work-up, requiring the throttle body to be removed to fit the shorter L bracket, & the throttle cable to the smaller radius pulley
MOSS was not available (then or now)
Apparently the ECU "reset" is an "urban myth" dating from the early BMW's
There are a number of throttle response "improvers" I'm currently using the AF-XIED, not perfect, however much better than the stock fuelling
I'm trying to get a mate's bike derestricted as well and could not get any clear advice from any shop near me as to whether they need to hook up the bike up to the computer as well as replacing the throttle plate.
However, I just spoke to 'Vic' at the Paul Feeney Group here in Oz (importers/distributors of Huskies until KTM took over) and he was adamant that the only difference with the restricted bikes is the throttle plate ie. The only restriction is mechanical and no software update is necessary for full power. His advice seems to back up your experience EK9 if I read your comment correctly. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
The info that I got from one of the bike shops is that the KTM system they're using is EX1(?) which can do diagnostics on our bikes but no reprogramming. Whereas the OSS (according to Paul Feeney Group) is a BMW system and therefore nothing to do with KTM. If that is the case, it is hardly surprising that very few dealers are stumping up for the OSS access when it is only useful for older Huskies.
Snail, did you get your bike sorted?
How do you find the throttle responsiveness now?yes i did.. but now i get a random EFI fault every now and a gain.. um.. say when at the lights and i take off and give it some not red lining or any thing like that just a good rev to about 6g's through the gears some times the EFI light will come on and stall the bike till the engine goes under 1000RMP or cuts out all together. its really f@#*ken dangerous. my bike has just come out of it 2 year warranty 06.10.2015 and waiting for the shop to get the KTM cable for the red husky's so we can see whats going on. I was waiting to get this fixed before i did a wright up and reply but that's where i'm at. still love the bike every red hair has her moments.
Mine developed a stumble & flatness on throttle opening immediately after starting plus stalling at the first corner - I got around this with a simple starting proceedure - start the motor, let in run for one or two minutes, then stop it, then start again & ride-offyes i did.. but now i get a random EFI fault every now and a gain.. um.. say when at the lights and i take off and give it some not red lining or any thing like that just a good rev to about 6g's through the gears some times the EFI light will come on and stall the bike till the engine goes under 1000RMP or cuts out all together. its really f@#*ken dangerous. my bike has just come out of it 2 year warranty 06.10.2015 and waiting for the shop to get the KTM cable for the red husky's so we can see whats going on. How do you find the throttle responsiveness now?
After the latest firmware update I noticed that l needed more throttle before the ecu would change from closed to open loop on acceleration
I've recently had my bike updated at Dahlitz also, a quick action throttle sounds interesting?
Actually easy to do - l cut a narrow section of pvc pipe & glued to the cable pulley, effectively increasing the radius by 3.00mm- instant quick action at virtually no cost - that's at the twist grip
Which size PVC ?
