• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hello everybody,
Just got myself a lovely 1983 CR500 and I'm looking for more info. I'm trying to get hold of the owners manual and workshop manuals so I can get to know this awesome bike.
I've had a look in tech section but the links aren't working, any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

It's missing the chain I think you better let me have it? Kidding nice find, go slow at first.

Bought one of those new when living in Bellevue Washington. Was a bear to start though. Other than that a great bike. Wish I still had it.
Yes, the tech sections are not working. Hopefully not for long.

the 83-88 is basically the same except 85 on is liquid cooled
here is an 86 2 stroke engine manual
hope this helps

I tried to upload a file in my computer but it won't upload to this site, said there was an error
anyone know how to get this uploaded

The site that held the manuals has shut and they are no longer available, unless you saved one or printed it off your f####d

I saw it run with the chain so it's ok, putting a new one on that I had lying around.
Haven't started it since I bought it, wanted to do some maintenance before I took it for a spin. Give it a good check over.

When I get home from work this evening, I'll provide you a link to my OneDrive account, you'll be able to download the manual from there. These files are too large to email, so I upload them to a free online storage (in this case OneDrive), then others can be allowed to view and download. I do have the owner's manual to my 500, but only in paper form. If you would like a copy, I'll scan and upload. Be a few days on the owner's manual to find time to scan.

Nice looking machine by the way. Wonderful long broad powerband. Does it still have the 4 speed gearbox? A good run up through the gears always results in a grin.

That would be amazing Steve, thank you very much.
Very generous of you to offer to copy your owners manual so when ever you can do it would be appreciated.

Yes it's still the 4 speed although I haven't had the pleasure yet, can't wait to get on it ! It's my first vintage so I'll be taking it easy.

Having a problem with the file for the service manual (frame), will post it as soon as (if) I get it fixed. My apologies.

Here's a link to the 1983 parts manual. You may already have it from HVA

I don't see the actual 2 stroke engine manual on HVA, so here's a link just in case. Of course these bikes have bounced my head off the ground too many times, so maybe I am just not seeing it.

Also have the Ohlins manual if you should need it.
