  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Back Tire

Husqvarna
AA Class
So my motoz rear tire is wearing out. Time for a new tire and im looking to switch it up. I ride mostly soft to intermediate terrain. Anyone with good experience with a good back tire post it up please!

Thanks in advance, Drew

i use metzeler mc5 on te450 good hookup get aprox 1,000km out of it. this is what i use now and i have used every tyre out there. i think u have to try all tyres untill you find one that works for your bike and your riding.

I'm sold on the trials tire, (Michelin). Depends on what terrain you're riding I suppose. We ride mostly single track with quite a few rocks and roots.

Mate I love the Motoz for their all round hook up and longevity. If you are riding more mixed intermediate country the biggest surprise packet for me has been the Dunlop geomax 51. Just a superb replacement for the 756. Failing that the bridgestone 404's/403's are great as well.

I've been running Kenda Washougals for the longest....My friends talked me into trying a Dunlop 803 Trials tire for the rear. It works great with the Tubliss system. It has taken a couple of rides to get used to it.

Pros: it last a long time, rocks & roots don't get the rear end loose anymore, does well on most terrains (doesn't like sand/sloppy mud too much), larger sidewall deflects impact, runs at a lower tire pressure (7-8 psi) & it grips everything.

Cons: it grips everything (easy on the gas), no side knobs so a little easier on the throttle when turning, doesn't do as well braking.

Will I buy another? The jury is still out.

Still liking the Pirelli MT21 Trials tire I put on this spring. I put the Bridgestone Ultra HD tube in it and run 6.5 lbs of air (I go 180 lbs with gear on) and have not had a flat riding the ugliest rocks, roots, logs PA has. It grips in almost anything I encounter and I feel I'm faster through the tight rocky stuff because it doesn't bounce off the rocks because of the high sidewall and low air pressure. Power slides (or lack thereof) took some time to get used to, and I had to watch I didn't get into trouble with too much traction in some spots, but overall it is different from any knobbie I ever ran - in a good way.

I use Metzeler 'Six Day Enduro's' front and rear. Good grip and road legal for UK trails.
:D
