• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Rack for TE630 Coming From Turbo City

Just got the TCI Outback systems for the TE and KLX mounted. Very impressive design and fit. They distribute a lot of weight down to the passenger footpegs which also absorbs much of the vibration at the rear fender. Tom (TCI owner) gave me a hell of a deal on the racks and skid plate for KLX. Even at the regular $369 per system they would be an unbelievable value. Just got the extra set of Husky U-bolts today so CJ's frame braces are going on next. I like the versatility the racks give me, I can run the Pelicans, soft luggage, or even strap dry bags on.

What is that on your seat Dynobob?

Yep, Sweetcheeks with two 30oz MSR fuel bottles inside. I know they look funny but damn are they comfortable.

If anyone is interested I have one for sale. Never used, bought it and after test fitting on the bike realized it wasn't for me. Save somebody a few bucks, PM me.

Post 102 here, just up the page a bit. Download the pdf and print it out on 14" paper. Capt wrote a nice how-to here: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/te-630-sub-frame-mod.22225/

So far they are working great on my bike. We rode the crap out of them last weekend in DV. No issues. I did find a slightly loose subframe bolt going over it post-ride cleanup and maint.

Dang it! UK paper is shorter than 14". Need to find a bigger printer!

EDIT: On page 3 of this thread I have developed a subframe reinforcing plate system. For carrying any weight over about 10lbs the sub needs to be either welded with reinforcements or a bolt-on plate like my design. Failing to do so will result in a broken subframe. You have been warned. :D

A fellow forum member went into more installation detail in this thread using my bolt-on plate design here: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/te-630-sub-frame-mod.22225/

Original thread starts here.

Just dropped my 630 off to Tom at Turbo City so they can develop a production prototype. They thought a couple of weeks with the bike but I'm not sure about how long before they can ship product. Since they make all their product themselves in their modern shop in Orange, California, I imagine they can bring it to market pretty quickly.

This is their 'Borrego' rack:

Their 'Sequoia' rack:

The Sequoia with Cortech bags:

And finally their 'Denali' rack and with bags:

This is my favorite...their version of the rotopax. Theirs is the 'KOLPIN' container and holds 1.5gl.

You can browse all of their products here: www.tciproductsusa.com

Will keep ya posted as it develops.
Dam I got excited thinking it was a misprint and there was a Turbo availble from rack city!:D

Bump for subframe plate patterns...post 102 this thread.

I wonder how many of these got made and put to use. I've got about four thousand miles on my bike now, about half hard dirt. Everything looks good on the subframe. I have replaced the lower mounting bolts a couple of times, keep an eye on those, they come loose and can be bent. And don't put hardened bolts in there, you'll just break something else.

Hey CJ!

I got about 3k miles now nearly all is hard off-road and your braces are still holding up! I carry about 20lbs most of the time on the rack. Tools/Fuel (Rotopaxs).

Fantastic thread. Question on the subframe mod. Are all TE630 subframes the same? The templates in the PDF dont seem to match the holes on my subframe.

I know its dirty...will be cleaned....soon!

Also, a question about the Borrego rack. Should it just fit on without any mods to the rear plastics on the bike? The photo of the rack shows it bolted to what I am assuming is the subframe. Its just my plastics are in the way???

And I have an Akro fitted. It looks pretty tight in the last photo. Wondering if there is the space to fit the rack??Akro2.jpg

Did you print them full size on 14" paper?
If you printed on standard letter size sheet then the program more than likely shrunk it to fit the page. Your pattern looks like it's too small.

As Dynobob suggested above.."I taped two 11" sheets overlapped to make 14". Most printers have setting for legal size."

This worked for me although the holes were still in very different places.

Is sure looks like the akro is mounted to the front part of the rack attach point. Not sure how they will co-exist.
But yes, the racks fit on with no mods.

I can't tell what you have there with the plates and rack parts. If it's a 630 it's the same as all the others. They didn't somehow change some of them.

I don't think that Akro can was made for the 630. Looks like someone adapted to work. As it is now the Borrego won't work.
