• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New SM630

Received a call from my girlfriend this afternoon telling me to me her with the motorcycle trailer... she had a surprise. She got herself a brand spanking new 2011 SM630!! Now how do I talk her into letting me take it out when she isn't using it???

Damn! You found a woman that buys her own bikes-KEEPER! Congrats on the new bike to both of you. I just picked up mine too.

packed in two 630's now in the garage with my 2010 FJR1200. yes she is definately into riding.. Have been training her for the last year on a mountain bike to develop the appropriate skills for the super moto. She did surprise me with this purchase though. We will get some 50/50 17" super moto tires for dirt roads shortly and she'll soon find out what it is all about.

What's that thing on the right side of your last pic?

Charcoal canister to absorb fuel vapors from the tank for emissions reasons. it's mounted to the outside of the frame on the front right engine mount. I just pulled it and ran a longer hose that exits under the bike with a little brass filter fitting to keep the bugs and crud out.

How did you attach the plate (temp) to your rear inner fender liner? Looks like a perfect location for the SM.

There was a random plastic license plate mount in the box of goodies that came with the bike, never figured out where it was supposed to go.
So I pulled the tail off and trimmed it down to just the tail, getting rid of the floppy bits.
Then I took a 5" piece of thin aluminum angle and bolted the plate mount to it, and then bolted the whole thing to the front crossover piece under the fender (part of the black tail).
The new mount sits against the subframe/handle mounts which keeps it from flopping around.

Where did you purchase the"little brass filter fitting" and did it have a part number ? I purchased my SMS 630 from Upstate Cycle the same time as you did. I picked mine up the day before you and got the last PU kit he had. (SORRY !) Good looking SMS 630 ! Husky made a big mistake by dropping it without a replacement in my opinion but at least some of us got a great deal .

Something like this, just to keep crud and bugs out:
