• 2 Stroke Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Italy - About 1989 to 2014
    WR = 2st Enduro & CR = 2st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st New Smokers For 2013

Don't get me wrong, but I love the idea of the big bore 2T in the new frame. My WR360 has the 6 speed and while it works well it would probably be a better fit for the true WR 5 speed that husky installed in the 1999-2001 WR250. I tried to make that swap but the extra size of the 360 crankcase doesn't allow room for the much larger 5th gear. The abundant torque and spread of power in a big bore 2T makes the wide 5 work well. I also think that e-start is an un-needed option in a pure race bike. Problem is that most of these will be going to sometime racers and frequent trail riders where the e-start is really a plus. When you are having to get off and kick with your left leg on really steep side hills while the pack of ktms hit the button and are gone really sucks for a short guy. Obviously talent is an issue. :banghead:

If the new 2T is just a one year retro-fit to bridge to an all new 2T line in 2014 or 2015 then I get back to where they aren't going to take sales away from KTM, et al. They need to at least offer the options that KTM offers. KTM's e-start is an afterthought design but mostly works and Husky could add the same type of design if only as an option. JMO on selling the brand.
I was referring to the many that were calling for Husky to put the old engine in the TC frame until a whole new bike was ready. I am sure it would be a waste of time and money to e-start the old engine.

When they bring out a new 250/300 it will be brand new from the ground up. I have been told by people inside HNA, that a new 250/300 is their #1 priority right now.

The same guy told me that EVERY single model that Husqvarna builds today will have a new engine by MY15.

I expect that they will also transition to the body work style currently on the new TE/TXC/TC's......

A full size looking 65 plastic set up wouldn't be to bad.
yeah ya right they have grown on me a bit, still like the 250/310/wr style tho. new headlight time too-something sharp & good lookin like the tm/fantic/gasser type & not the 449 style. old headlight looks a bit china bike imo!

Pedec...2 stroke's mate..how dare you come to this thread with blasphemous words like TC310 :naughty:

PS. I'm joking with you mate!!

I sure hope Husky has something in the pipeline. I rode a 2012 Berg 300 last weekend and I really hate to admit it but it is a nice bike. I have ridden several KTM 300’s from 99 – 08 and always hated them. Although the Husky hasn’t changed much since at least 99 it is such a good bike that I still always preferred it. But I think KTM has finally caught up.

The Berg handled really well, in fact it felt like a slightly heavier and much more powerful Husky untralight to me. It would turn and the twitchy feeling of the past was gone. I really liked the suspension, it was firm but soaked everything up in a very controlled manor. The motor did not seem to hit hard then hit the wall in a vibrating midrange like the older ones did although I still like the Husky motor a little more. I have not had a ride on the new Gasgas but I bet it is nice also. I really hope we see a new Husqvarna real soon.

But do we really know what will happen to the euro smokers soon? I thought they had to meet some much stricter emission standards in 2014? The optimistic assumption seems to be that everyone will release DI bikes at that time. But do we know that the technology is developed? Isn’t it also possible that all the 2 strokes just go away in 2014? I hope that is not the case but with what a technological leap it will be it just seems that we should be seeing these new wonder bikes by now. If Husky is coming out with a completely new motor with DI shouldn’t they be racing and testing prototypes by now?

are you guys crapping your pants every year like this? this is ridiculous :D guess y'all have to just wait and see what happens. All you're doing is speculating. Have a day at a time and keep riding while you can ;)

I've been asking Husky to build a 200 for a couple of years now but they don't have their ears on LOL. Thank goodness we have Walt to help us out.

I have been asking since 04 so get in line partner :D Now with the WB165 i could care less if they bring one out other than it would be GREAT for husky.
