    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

.. and that´s what my dealer told me too. He specifically asked the importer and they confirmed that `twas ok (AND they sold him the parts).
 
motogo1, who said the PU kit voids the warranty? My dealer said it does not.
Don't know it for a fact, just what I've read on this here internet thing. Installed the PU and removed the cover thing behind the air filter. As everyone else has posted, the bike runs smoother, more power,,,,very nice! I'm gonna try a 14 CS sprocket, and maybe the JD tuner, but I'm pretty happy with this bike. 500 miles on it and zero issues.
 
I had the p/u kit installed in my 08 TE510 before ever starting it and the dealer did several warranty claims for me on the bike, one of which included replacing the fuel pump. My two new 630's had the p/u installed before leaving the dealer and I expect the same warranty coverage if required.
 
Pretty much from day 1. Now what I'm running into is that my new gauge cluster seems to be calibrated for the SM, and I can't find any information on how to change it. There's nothing in the owner's manual or shop manual that explains it.

I'm taking the bike on a 2000 mile road trip tomorrow and my speedometer, tripmeter and odometer are all WAY off.

Sounds like an alfa romeo I had once. Little things here and there went bad like the cruise control stopped working, the odometer stopped working, the motor for the electrically reclining seats burnt out...but if I ever thought of getting rid of it all I had to do was start her up and take a drive and that would change my mind :)

You must have confidence in the basics if you're going on a 2k mile ride!
 
Back from my 2000 mile ride. The only issues I had were the inaccurate gauge and I busted the boot tab off of the kickstand (which is really only spot welded on).
 
Just did a little work on my 630. Changed the oil for the first time at 500 miles. Golden yellow, very little fine stuff on the magnet, and very minor flecks on the left side bag filter. Didn't even bother to check the one under the clutch cover. Changed the CS to a 14. Was very easy. Remove the chain, remove 15, install 14. The bolt for the shifter is very easy to access this way too. Took it out for a ride. Me LIKE! With stock gearing at 4000 RPM was about 56MPH. Now is about 51. 5000 RPM is 65. Just perfect for the kind of riding I do. Pulls strong with just the PU and air box restriction removed. I'm sure it will pull 100 after it's really broken in. I'm seeing lots of little improvements on the new bike. Like 2 grease fittings on the rear linkage (you TE owners may want to put plugs in there for off roading), and a case saver in front of the CS sproket. I'm feeling good about Husky.

I have checked the filter under the clutch cover 2-3 times, it was spotless each time. It is meant to be checked at valve check intervals. I have yet to see anything in there that would make me believe it needs checking even that often.

You mean the bolted on steel loop thingy? It broke where it was welded together?

It snapped off where it was welded onto the spring's anchor bolt. So far, I'm just living without it. I don't miss it all that much.
