  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New TE310 owner dealing with issues

Well guys, it crapped out on a warm day in traffic again. This is after taking it out to the trails a few days before and having it work fine. I think it doesn't like to sit idle for any length of time.

Suddenly the bike sputters and dies out. I kick it back on but it just can't get any life. So I let it sit for about 5 minutes and it starts up and rides away. A few minutes later it does the same thing. Craps out on start and have to wait a few minutes again...I know the temp sensors on these bikes are known to fail, but is this consistent with that problem? LandofMotards mentioned also valve adjustments. Thoughts on that?

I'm starting to think this thing is a lemon. :-/

sounds electrical/fuel pump. valves: I really doubt they're the cause of your problems.

Thank you. I'm noticing a pattern with further research and it seems that it is most likely the pump.

(looks like you're still on probation... your post showed up Sunday morning 2 days later)

I think you should verify your electrical system first. by this, I mean confirm that the regulated voltage is consistent (looking for a number like 14.2v) while the bike is running. confirm that your battery holds a charge after the bike is shut off. check that all connections are good etc. [seriously, blowing 2 filaments in a light bulb on the same day is a "sign" not to be ignored]

...once those easy steps are done, lets take a look at the fuel pump to see if it's moved or anything else about it is suspicious since your last repair.

get back to us after these checks.

also, probation: post something on the New Accounts Approval system to get a moderators attention I believe.

good luck.

Thanks, Shovelhead. I don't have a good meter at the moment, but I did just change the battery after the headlight blowout, so I can potentially assume the battery is good.

Took out the fuel pump and it again slid out as I was pulling it. Couldn't really see good way to hold it down with the limited time I had. I put some reflective aluminum tape on the inside of the tank along with some exhaust wrap to keep some heat off. It's a bit of a tough problem to test out since you have to drive around quite a while and get the bike hot enough, but I'll give it a go.

Dose anyone know the thread pitch of a front sprocket nut on a 14 TE310R or where to get one mine backed off and is gone was a tricky ride home.

Hi mate, have you tried replacing the temp sensor switch on the engine?

I removed the thermostat also as well as using rock oil coolant, some use Evans waterless coolant but its expensive and you have to flush 1st
