• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

new terra 650 owner

The stock handlebars are easy to bend, the clutch cable chafes on the retaining clip. Some people have idle/stalling issues which are most easily remedied by a "booster plug" or "wuka king". That's all I can think of right now.

Also the air box has a serious design flaw and let's air and dust go around the filter, some (like me) sealed it with grease or silicone, others and completely modified their intake. Search for the pod mod yo see that one.

very first thing you should do is remove the steel licence plate holder, many have had broken plastic fenders. a warranty issue with your dealer. there are several different fixes. my best was the www.brmoto.com side racks with top plate. makes the tail piece solid as a rock.

Oh I forgot about that, I have a UK spec Terra that never had the metal bracket. But I did get the BR Motorcycle racks, I tied and glued the finder the the crossbar.

Jodie,

Welcome to the group. I hope you enjoy your new Husky as much as I do. It is a great bike and with a few tweaks it will be bullet proof.

There is a whole thread dedicated to the Terra and Strada located here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=22859332&postcount=2053

As others have said the most immediate problem is the license plate holder and most definitely the Air Box and Filter. They allow dirt infiltration into the engine. Read the above thread index and most of your questions will have been answered there.

hi guys..

will get my terra 650 in a day or two..
anything i shoul look out for?

cant wait to go touring on her.. always wanted a dual sport bike.

Welcome Jodie. Look out for bugs on your teeth. The ear to ear grin while riding seems to attract bugs. Good choice on bike.

Years from now you'll enjoy the logging of miles.

Rode for 2days around town.. done about 60k..
Things ive noticed..
1. This terra was lowered at the dealer.. noticed it only when i compared pictures in the internet... had it restored to the proper height.. also it felt weird like the suspension travel was very limited..
2. It is hot and the weather in manila is almost unbearable.. nut no overheat.. dealer said they now bleed the units as the 1st batch did overheat and bleeding air out solved it...
3. A bolt on the side holding the subframe was lose and almost fell..
4. Ive been reading through this forum and found out that the rear carrier breaks.. it does look like it would.. so i got me panniers..

Will take her out this weekend.

Cheers..

Jimmyc, read through the forums and decided thet i need carriers fabricated, there is a shop here in manila that does just that.. a wolfman like carries and rear bracket would be around 220usd.. powdercoated already..
That was my 1st option. But with an out of town trip this week end coming, i just did not have the time with my busy schedule.. so i got me the panniers.. and im happy with them.. makes the bike look better too.. ;)
