new to street, new to SM, but not new to Husky!

Couldn't help myself. Friend just picked up a BMW F800 and my other bud a TE510 and was missing out on their little street rides.

I told myself I would never ride street because of the danger, but decided to go against what I've always believed and took a chance and did the unthinkable. Bought a street bike, a new SMS 630! Plus, let's be honest, the deals on these were also incredibly hard to pass up.

One of my local Husky shops, GP motorcycles here in San Diego made it happen. In fact, I was fortunate enough to have Paul, the owner, do all the prep work on the bike, likely because they're so incredibly busy these days. Josh in sales was also incredibly nice to work with too, but knew this going in since I've done business with this shop on multiple occasions.

Did the following:

-PU Kit
-LV Stainless Slip Ons
-Multiple intake/lid mods (still need to do one more thing)
-Smog crap removed
-& Custom ibeat tune

It's going back in soon, since I think I'd like to change the rear tire along with a larger rear sprocket, just not sure how many teeth yet, maybe 40 or 42?

Should be a fun bike and definitely a new Husky experience for me, being a street bike only.

Thanks guys for all yours posts about your bikes, since it made it easy on what I needed to do out of the gate!

So, now the Husky collection is almost complete, just need an old school TE570 still and a Nuda once I get acquainted with this 630...

I'm a pretty cautious guy, so we'll be taking it easy getting used to this new deal, since it's vastly different than the dirt, but in a sense I road defensively there, so it was good training all those years. Norm, now if you can please find me a spotless TE400, then I'd really be stoked!!

Can't wait to get some time on her...and throw on a few more pertinent goodies to make her complete.

White, will do. I went and purchased a grip of protective stuff today, a higher end Shoei helmet, Alpinestars jacket and gloves....just need some AS pants...and boots to complete it. No messing around out there on the street I tell ya. Too many whackos not knowing how to drive. I'll sell you this one when you're ready to begin your next midlife! By that time, I'll be itching for a nuda or something else exotic and faster.

Good lookin bike! I'd sure love a 610 to commute on! Even more so a 630. The updated look is cool, and I like the color schemes available. So far I've seen your white w/silver ( or light blue? Always seemed blue til I saw these pics..) and black with a little red.

I've really enjoyed the 42 toother I've had on my 610 within the first 2 weeks of purchasing the bike. Not sure if the tranny gearing is different on the 630, but it makes mine work a little less & 1st gear is a little more usable. The bike can still start from a deadstart in 2nd.

I’ve definitely gone riding before and after there’s more congestion in the streets. My commute to work, when I do ride the bike, is very quiet on the roads (don’t have the full lic yet, only permit, not until next month), as most use the highways around here.

Yeah, I’m into the white silver one the most. It suits me best and seems to be the most sexy of them all IMHO. I also like the fact it’s easier to see on the roads too. I don’t want to be too stealthy, for the safety factor.

I started thinking more about the rear gear change, but honestly, I don’t know if I can live without the higher cruising speed. I’ll have to give that more thought once I go for some rides with my friends that have the bigger BMW F series bikes…… may need every inch of that 38 sprocket, haha. Second from a dead stop would require a little clutch work, but it would do it obviously. It simply tractors out of the gate!

That’s awesome, glad they could get you sorted on one too. Paul at GP still needs to do a few more things to the bike to make it right, but it’s darn close! Right now, looking for a new rear tire in the next month or two. Would like a dual compound tire from what it seems, so need to start researching that.

Hopefully soon, I’ll post a quick review of my thoughts on the bike, since I can say I’m liking it more than I thought I would.

That is the first time i have seen a 630 with the Leo twin slip ons.they are reasonably priced.did you try it before and after install?what do you think of them?dan

Hey Dan. Hope business is good. Yeah, couldn't tell ya, I had them installed before delivery. I do know Paul at GP rode it when it was stock, and he rode it after all said and done. I'll ask him when I see him next since it needs to go back to his shop to wrap up a few items and report back. I do know he was a little unimpressed in stock form (nothing, not even PU), according to Josh, his sales manager, as others have mentioned on this site.

Personally, I like them quite a bit. Their noise levels are perfect and they have a deeper Ducati sound to them if you ask me, esp on deceleration. I'm happy with the decision of purchasing these. Again, I won't pretend to know the difference in power without/with them, so I'll just wait to ask Paul personally.

One other thing, the fit and finish is what you'd expect from LV, spot on. Plus, I've gotten more compliments on the pipes than the bike, haha.

The Leo Vince exhaust is the best, fit and finish is unmatched! A 42 sprocket will bring that bike to life, and it doesn't change enough to worry about on the highways.
