  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I just switched over from "orange" to Husky. I love my 09 txc250. I would like to here from other txc owners who can tell me anything special I need to know about the bike. So far all I know is it handles better than any KTM ive ever been on. This bike suits my riding style much better than my 300xcw. Does any one know how far I can go on a tank of fuel? Thanks!!!

as long as it is not too muddy i get about 60mpg.

 What are your jetting specs???

Are you sure that is not 60 miles per tank?

I get about 30 miles per gallon, 55 miles per tank with fuel to spare.

Later,

I have an IMS tank on mine. I did a 75 mile ride a few weeks ago and only used 1/2 a tank.

I bought the bike new about a month ago with the tank already installed. It is nice - just a little bit wider than the stock tank was on my TE450.

Overall I love the new ride.

ive ridden my 09 txc250 40+ miles with plenty of gas left, maybe Ill take some in a small bottle to get me out of the woods and see just how far,Im sure it will go to 50+ if pushed

Of course conditions and how you ride it make a big difference. We don't have those kind of wide open spaces here, so the only time mileage ever comes into play for me is at races. I've never been brave enough to go more than 35 miles without a gas stop...sounds to be not much left splishing around in there at that distance, but never actually measured to be sure.

sorry, yes i meant 60 miles per tank, not per gal.honest i let a Scooter use my bike last sunday on a ride.he only weighs about 130 pounds and we went 72 miles before the gas stop.it was an easy 72 miles tho.dan

TXC250 is a great bike. Have one myself. Added the carb vent filter kit, seal savers and did the common cooling system mods (replace rad. crossover tube with fuel line and replace plastic tee fitting) for piece of mind. I would recommend securing the battery better (I just used velcro and zip ties) and regreasing the rear shock linkage assy. like on all bikes. Suspension takes a long time to break-in and little adjustments seem to make large changes so go slow on that. The bike is first rate in the woods. I too once owned a KTM 300EXC. TXC is night and day more fun. Even at 220lbs. the bike has no trouble pulling me through, up and over some nasty north east tight wood trials.

I a little over twenty miles today on some super gnarly mountain trails. This bike is so much easier to ride than the KTM. It was really muddy and there was alot of long rocky climbs and the bike was wonderful. I did take that little thing that is between the gas cap and the tank of because the fuel would leak out a little with it on there. I really dont know why it is on there anyway.

Welcome to TXC 250 nirvana. I'm still in awe of mine. Best handling woods 250F I've ever ridden. If you'd like to lose about 3 lbs. of useless weight from the TXC... try THIS.

ya I had to take that trim off as well, gas cap wouldnt seal with it on,dont forget the great advise to change out the radiator crossover hose with a high pressure fuel line,it will burst if left alone eventually, same with the plastic "T" that connects the large radiator hoses, replace ASAP with a nice uptite metal one

Thats cool Tim tell your brother congrats on his soon to be TXC and get him to sign up on here if he hasn't already.

Can I say again that this is the best bike ive ever ridden and ive been riding for over thirty years. Have Huskys always been this good?

I'm a convert from orange too. 08 txc 250 has been awesome. can't beat the simplicity of maintenance either...congrats
