  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Newbie needs a chain

I put a tera flex on my 08 te450 today, I took it for a rip around the block and I ripped off the mud flap. I would like to replace the chain with one a couple links longer but I dont know how many links are in the stock chain, or what type it is ect.

Does someone know what is the biggest chain I could put on with the stock gearing? what tools are required to replace the chain? is there any special tools to put together the master link? How do you cut down a larger chain?

I also have a 50t sprocket that I have on my sumo wheels that I may put on the dirt wheels to change the gearing, is there anyone out there running this combo? if so what size chain do you have?

Keeping in mind I would like to keep the wheel a little farther rearward than stock so I dont rip off the mud flap again.

Thanks

Hi Zeddy, good to see someone not far from me. Your bike came stock with a 112 link chain according to the parts disc. You are correct that you may have to play with sprockets to get the correct chain adjustment. Of course motosportz has in stock chains, sprockets, and the mud flap your tire ate, I know its not on the web just ask in an email. mike.

Thanks, I maybe putting in an order, there are a bunch of things I need.
...and a bunch of things I want!
