• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! The most isolated land mass in the world...thanks for forums like these to help me out!

OK. I just bought what I thought was a 1980 CR390. HOWEVER, the frame number is CN07605 and the engine number is 2061 3276.

I've looked at several "listings" that are supposed to explain this very question but have yet to get a conclusive answer.

Any help out there?
Mahalo,
Skidmark!

p.s. I know the tank is incorrect for the model/year. Anyone know what it's from? Heck..take a peek at the pic and tell me what you see..she could be a real frankenbike for all I know. I'm going to be vintage racing the thing in Hilo so concourse condition is not a priority...at this point.

You have a a Frankenbike but it is all good****************************************!

1979 OR swing-arm (no gussets on shock mount ) + brake stay mount under swing-arm
1979/1980 remote reservoir Ohlins
1982 gold leg forks
1982 430 tank
Are you sure the frame #is CN?
1980 seat based on thin profile. If the front mount is cracked and the seat pan is white brittle plastic it is definitely a 1980 seat.

Motor # 2061 dictates that it is a CR.. and based on the style of kicker that is on it it is a 1977 CR390 motor ( definitely is not a 1980)
1980 CR rear fender

Wow...Frankenbike for sure! Ok, about that frame....yes it's a "CN" weird eh? See pic.

I've torn her all down and am blasting the frame and other parts getting ready for paint.
I have a pin hole leak in the bottom of the case I have to fill (close to drain plug..literally a "pore" size hole). The shocks are apart and appear to have decent damping even with no pressure in resevoir. The forks are recently rebuilt (less than 6mos ago). The handlebar bushings and most of the other rubber bumpers etc are shot. I've ridden the bike around the block and it goes like stink. Oh and it's still got a 17 rear wheel. What's the "hot" 17" tire??

Looks like a fun project/vintage racer. Did I do OK at $1000 ??
Skiddy.

All 390's are Great!!!:thumbsup::applause:

Considering your on the island :eek::eek:and the cost to ship one there even in pcs would be astronomical, I think you did ok.

A little weird to have the later model CN frame but this is what made Husky's so interchangeable... nothing to worry about though!

Thanks for the info...I haven't found a frame spec for a CN with 5 digits starting with zero yet...they are either 4 digits or 5 digits starting with a one.
