• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Noisy TE630 motor

Normal to me, pull in the clutch and about 1/2 the noise from right side will go away. These motors were not designed for refined silent running, the 630 is a derivative of a full on race motor from the past now pressed into dualsport service. KTM RFS same way.

Did that SWM rod arrive as yet? I finally had my crank split. Crank, rod and pin are in almost perfect condition, looks like I caught the bearing before it got too bad. Was hoping to find an alternate bearing, XR600 is close but 2.5mm too narrow in width.

Well, nearly three months after ordering the rod kit, the dicks at SWM in Australia can't even tell me if its been sent yet from Italy!
So today I decided to dismantle the crankshaft to see if I can see the problem. Well, its pretty obvious what was causing my engine noise/vibration!

The rod looks in good condition, so I might look at replacing the pin and bearing if I can find a match.

don't bonk it with a tool. use the base of your palm so you can hear the play. it should be a subdued sound, not sharp.

That is the palm Im hitting it with!
you could measure the movement tolerance and compare the measurement with the workshop manual values. it's probably all normal. can you do this verification?IMG_20181123_135146.jpg

it would seem that the numbers of the spare parts
TE 630 - 8000H3877 and SWMRS650R - 8000H7033
have been merged with the same SWM number
Homerb with his purchase this could prove.
Confirm that the part you have purchased through SWM is the
8000H7033?

Thanks for your patience I am always looking for the compatibility of spare parts between RS650R and TE630

Your old crankshaft probably still has some oil in the roller bearing while the new one probably doesn't. Try to bathe the crankshaft in oil and then see if the new one still seems off
