• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Now that you bought the TR650 - where ya gonna go?

8 hours and 200 miles of TR goodness.

The Strada looks great with nobby tyres and I like the Altrider crashbars in silver too. I've got the Strada as well and will eventually fit some cross tyres and the the crashbars. You happy with the handling off-road with Strada wheels? I don't plan to tackle particularly rough terrain but possibly sand/bull dust and lots of corrugations ie. desert riding in oz

I've been very happy with my setup so far. It definitely needs lower gears, though. The wheels seem to be handling my use so far, which includes pavement commuting, gravel and dirt roads, forest roads, and some loose rocky jeep roads (needs lower gears before tackling too much more of this). Note that I have no previous off pavement motorcycle experience at all, so I have absolutely no other basis to compare to.

My Terra is loaded up and taking me on the 2700 mile and 16 day Heart of the West route starting next weekend. Wolf man bags and Rotopax water and gas cans on. Fab One Up is going too. New Dunlop 908RR on the back and a Golden Tyre fat on the front. We will be camping about two thirds of the time. The bikes were great on the COBDR and the should be perfect for this trip. New chain, oil change and brake fluid flush done. Just need to load the GPS and throw in some clothes and food. Yippee!

Just got back from a 10 day ride from Washington, through Oregon, northeast corner of Nevada, half of California, and back home along the coast including a bit of off-road with my riding partner on an F800GS. The Strada was better off-road, better through the twisties, and only couldn't keep up on several 9,000 foot passes the 58hp was down 30% on power. 2800 miles total. We camped 7 of the 10 nights. Great bike!

ARGGHHH WONDERFUL PHOTOS.. awesome..

look forward to a post trip report, i have to look this one up, sounds great!

Thumpa, I'm way behind on ride reports and haven't even started one on my last trip; 31 days border to border to border. So little time, so much riding left to do.

X2 what he said! Setup looks great, be interesting to hear how the additional tanks work on the longer hall.

Already tested them and they are good up front when the full gear is on the back. Kind of evens the load. Still, all up it is an additional 16 pounds when the Rotopax are full. I leave the gas, right side so away from the exhaust, empty when the extra gas isn't needed. Water empty too unless camping. When I am it is great to have a full gallon for cooking and drinking. Don't even notice that the tanks are there. Highly recommend.

Looks and sounds like a nice fit, and not too heavy all considered the overall benefits. Great use of space!

Last month took the Strada for an overnight adventure ride out past Bendigo in Victoria with a bunch of guys on DR650s a couple of Teneres, Vstroms a Beemer and a Terra who's owner may be a member on here.
My Strada is basically stock apart from a bashplate and a K60 up front and have to say it handled the rough stuff with ease. Plan on adding crashbars and handguards soon....until then I'll just have to try not to drop it.
