  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

o9 te 510 crankcase oil leak.

another question. should the dealer be giving me any sort of warranty on the engine now that its been pulled into a million pieces?? just want to know as the factory warranty runs out in 3 months and if it starts rattling or vibrating or leakin again in say 6 months where do i stand then??

Is your bike at the dealer now?? Honestly, listen to the advice and just tighten up those fixings. It'll take you ten minutes and another ten to clean up any residual oil. Typically your warranty will terminate when it was stated to do so, regardless of repairs carried out during that period. Meaning... you could be in a worse place in 6 months time. I really hope you get a proper fix and you're happy.

how much can you keep turning those bolts though??
My bike is an '08 so I don't have that plug that is in the picture. When I do tighten the bolts it is usually about an eighth of a turn, nothing too severe. It seems that some of the bolts on the clutch side loosen more than others. Not that much of a big deal, only takes about a minute.

I have a '08 TE 510 that I thought was leaking between the cases. It would make a oily mess under the entire motor that made it look like everything was leaking. It was a bad washer on the bottom drain plug. Or I had the washer up side down. I had the rough machined side of the washer up contacting the case. I put on a new washer smooth side up to the case no more leak. I did loosen and re-torque all the case bolts to 70 inch pounds while trying to figure out the oil leak.

Check that washer first, everone with a oil leak!

well have put 200ks on it after the rebuild (fix) with a new set of rings and all seems well... husky came to the party with warranty but i had to pay for new rings.... im happy all in all...
