  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

OEM handlebars for '77 CR 390?

PeterV

Husqvarna
B Class
Hi.
I'm new to the forum. I recently bought and have been fixing up a 77 CR 390. My mechanic has got her running, that was a thrill! She needs a lot of TLC, but I'm getting there.
One thing I'm trying to figure out are the bars. The previous owner said they were not OEM, so I've been looking for OEM ones. I have a couple of questions regarding this:
-are 1977 bars only black, or did they sometimes ship chrome?
-is there any way to identify OEM bars, any markings?

Thanks for any help[ on this.
Regards
Peter

Hi moto_surfer thanks for replying.
I'd like to pm you about your bars, but I can't find where to pm. Maybe it isn't available to me yet as I am a recent member. Or maybe the pm button is staring me in the face and I don't see it.
Moto surfer if you'd like to pm me , I'd like to talk to you about those bars. Thx

Simply go to the top of the page and place cursor on Inbox. You will see a dropdown and click on "Start New Conversation"

Hi.
Seems like I don't yet have the ability to send a PM. When I go to the INBOX and pull down, I don't have the option to START A NEW CONVERSATION. I just says you have no recent conversations..
Frustrating because I'd like to PM Moto-surfer

Stock bar are chrome, and are really wide 33", this the ones of my 76 360CR, which i took off100_0788.JPG100_0799.JPG

You can click on the Inbox tab and you will see No Conversations to the left and to the right you will see Start a new conversation. If it still does not show show you need to contact a moderator like Ruwfo to start

Hi Ruwfo.
Thanks for the reply and photos.
I'm trying to PM Moto_surfer who has offered to sell me his OEM ones, but I can't PM. When I go to the INBOX, I don't have any choice to start a new conversation. I've tried in 2 different browsers. jimspac suggested I ask you about it.
Maybe if someone sent me a PM I could see if at least Im able to receive PM's.
thanks for your help.

You really dont want to ride with the OEM bars unless you are doing desert riding. Way too wide in my opinion. I cut my 78 390 AMX bars down - same as 77 CR I believe (the autos got hand me down parts!) They are black. Good luck with your search.

Hi Thanks a lot for the wide bar warning. And you are right the OEM for the 77 Cr390 are black. I think I found a pair.
