  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Official SMR 511 Mod thread

the 511 is a turd compared to the TC449! can't even compare them, night and day difference. Owned them both and glad I made the switch. The 5 speed gear box doesn't bother me like I thought it would. As long as the engine holds together I'm happy****************************************

Are you using the SMR axle clamp/radial caliper on the TC? If so how and where can you swap them over?

I built an adapter to run a radial caliper. If any one is interested I have a sweet beringer for a tc/te model forsale $250 shipped in the US which is a steal! rieguy187@yahoo.com

Got my FMF and PCV last week. The FMF seems to confuse the O2-sensor a bit, but when it pulls like it should, there's loads of power. And loads of noise even when it isn't pulling :D I love the engine braking, sounds like a friggin assault rifle :D I thought about making a different snorkel, but can't be arsed, so I'll just cut the airbox for more air. And dyno on Thursday. Wishing for 55+ rwhp.

with the updated airbox lid you can really hear them sucking in the air. I'm curious what kind of power you end up with !

here is a picture, all custom made. I'm working on a whole set up with a new rotor

Airbox mod complete, cut out with dremel and sikaflex`d mesh screen to keep out big debris. Akrapovic, Race map2, o2 sensor delete. Much more lift on the throttle now, and ALOT more induction noise.

Is it possible to remove the air box entirely and add a large K&N tornado?
I think there is enough space there but you would need to have a catch can for the oil breather pipe. Also the heat pick up from rads/engine is a down side for power gains.

hay guys. just brought a smr511, currently running it in. wondering where you guys have got your axle sliders. espically any australians. ive been surfing the net and im struggling. any tips would be great thanks ben.

Call the guys at Motosapien (Husky dealer in Cairns), they'll set you up with some BigKnobs (giggles) axle sliders. I got one of the last few SME axle block ones :D

Piston/gasket wise it appears it's either 449cc or 478cc, no difference between TC/TE/SMR.
Had a chat with a husky mechanic tonight and he mentioned the extra CR for the TC might come from the head. I had a quick squiz through the parts fiche and sure enough the TC and TE have different part#'s for their respective heads, Yours for the bargain basement price of $980 *faints*

The physical heads between the TE & TC are different, for example, the exhaust ports differ, not sure about the intake. The cams are interchangeable and the TC cams have more lift/longer duration than the TE cams. There is approximately a 5 HP difference between TE & TC hot cams. TC maps can be emulated with PCV. Adding TC performance components will liven up a TE 511 over bore to higher than that of the original TC449.

Think you will need to upgrade the throttle body, injector and PCM to support and make all that power? I've sent a few emails out t get big bore kits but no one wants to make one yet.

I'm loving my TC but still want more power, I think that is just the american way. Running with some of these 65hp 450s is insane they still walk right by me.
