  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ok seriously problem with my 510

RideLI631

Husqvarna
AA Class
So my bike has about 3500 miles on it and till this point it has run without a hickup. My buddy also has the same bike 09 te510. About a month ago his bike started to act funny. Fan was always running did not or was extremly hard to start cold. Now my 510 started to do this as well yesterday. When riding the tachometer reads fail my fan is always on and when i let the bike cool down it is extremly hard to start. Anyone have these problems? My buddy brought his bike to our local husky dealer and they have no idea what is wrong with it and have had it for close to 2 months. I am trying to rectify the problem myself instead of having a dealer not do anything. Any help extremly appreciated.

If the fan is on, the bike thinks it is hot. If it thinks it is hot, the fuel setting will be lean. If the fuel setting is lean, the bike will be hard to start cold (no choke/fuel enrichment).

Replace #29, temperature sensor.

Yep- replace the coolant temp sensor... its about $10

Its a common issue and it appears there have been a bad batch of them- there's posts throughout this forum in that regard. I am still using mine original one that came in my 09TE450 witout any issues- but I bought a spare just in case.

I was thinking of doing the same thing (buying one to keep as a spare just in case) but mine's an 08 TE 250/310 and unless I missed something on all the threads that talk about this, it's not a known issue on my year - just 09, correct?

08s potentially suffer the same issue but it's not a problem that affects every bike. The sensor has been superceeded now to the same part as fitted to 449 so hopefully the issue is behind us.

Is there a part number for the new type sensor? Might swap as a precaution.

Thanks

I would have thought they'd be the same part number- but from a different "lot", apparently the "new improved" temp sensors which are believed to better are White not Black plastic- That said obviously not all the black ones are bad- but they would appear to have a higher likelyhood to fail based on what is being reported on our forums. The white ones have obviously not been through the gauntlet yet- but may have been tested and are known by Husqvarna to truly provide better service.

But:
8000A6736 is the "old" part number in the per 2009 250/310/450/510 parts Fiche (should be the one that had problems: not "new and improved")

From this post:
http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/2010-te250-upated-wiring-harness-and-temp-sensor.17583/ from OlivierTE250
8000H3649 is the part number of the white temp sensor that is stated to be from the new batch of "new and improved" sensors.

I checked with Halls Husqvarna's online parts search- either are available to be purchased with their online catalog for $13.80

here's a pic from OlivierTE250's post

Thanks. Hard to say if it's new and improved, or not. I'll guess that BMW had fewer warranty claims on the new one (if in fact it is the one from a BMW product).
