    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Really, I just rolled over 600 miles and love this bike. I put on about 120 miles yesterday and when I rolled into town and was waiting at stop light the warning light flashed and the temp gauge was at full bars. Have never seen this before but yesterday was one of the hotter days we've had. About 94F. All fluids are good any other thoughts?
 
Thanks HARDER1! I read the other thread and I think the air bubble is the problem. I went out and checked the overflow tank and it was good. I squeezed the hoses but no bubbles so I opened the radiator cap expecting a flood from the overflow tank. Nothing came out and I could not see any fluid in the radiator. I added about 12oz of 50/50 antifreeze to top it off. I will try to ride this evening and see how it does. Thanks for you help.

OK this worked for me. I checked the fluid levels in the overflow tank and it was fine. Then I took the radiator cap off and found the level low. I think this is caused by a air lock. With the main cap off and the overflow cap off the water in the main tank Will start to rise. Let it fill and put the main cap back on. Then top off your overflow tank. Now you should be good to go.
Do this when engine is cold and the engine off.
My temp never gets close to overheating now.

While riding through my home town I found the fan would come on now and then, probably doing what its supposed to...coolant levels seemed low in over flow tank and the radiator as well....I added a couple ounces of Redline Water Wetter, not a coolant but a friction modifier. lets the coolant move through the system better? any way since it runs somewhat cooler and the fan is on less....

Roscotom, I meant to thank you last week about this post. It is a solution you came up with a long time ago and we found the previous post while we were in Taos and my bike was overheating. Rather than scratch our heads figuring out what the problem was, both Sam and I had remembered a thread on the TR's overheating. We found a coffee shop and used there wifi with Sam's iPhone and we found your easy solution and fixed the bike right there in the parking lot. Pulled both caps and watched the tank level lower and the radiator level rise, then put the radiator cap back on before we lost too much coolant. No more air pocket! Topped off the tank when I got home and never had a problem again. Thanks man!
