• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Ouch, I hurt ...

It took all of about a minute to get a big ass grin on my face again. Getting onto the main road and cracking the throttle is all it took. Problem I had is those darn pesky dirt roads which are abundant, calling me, luring me, please, please come play.

Not today, thank you, sticking to the pavement for awhile. :rolleyes:
 
I broke my fibula about 3 inches above my ankle last Sept and walked on it for 2 months cause I thought it was sprained.
AirBoot for 6 weeks. Last visit was yesterday (I hope). I can still see the break on the Xray but it feels ok. But she (sports DR.) warned me to take it easy!

I don't know what is better, new tools or new gear.

I searched and researched boots for awhile, and got the Gaerne GX-1 boots. Pretty decent boots for under $200 delivered. I had to buckle some canned veggies into them and hit em with a heat gun to stretch them out. Seems laying on the side, collapsed the boots and they hurt like hell on the plated leg. All good after a remolding.

Now to just walk em out, and adjust the shifter.

Really can't go wrong with Gaernes in my opinion. I had a sponsorship from them a couple years ago, so got a pair of SG10s for ridiculously cheap (why didn't I just buy 3 or 4 pairs and be set for life?). Love them. Before that I had the Gaerne Cypher (I think your boots replaced that model) and those stood up to 3 years or so of racing as well. Liking those so much, I also picked up a pair of commuter boots (G-Impluse) from them and they are also superb.
 
Finding boots to fit is a PITA! My legs will be different sizes forever and I almost have to buy two pairs of anything tall. So, now I have one chicken leg and broken up normal leg :p

Although mine is titanium so I walk right through metal detectors, it's non magnetic. How scary is that a piece of metal the size of a highlighter 24" long isn't picked up by security.

Hardware removed Thursday, they wouldn't let me keep it. Things looking real good, bike is in good shape, getting better with the bike, and prime riding season coming up.

That just looks ... umm... nasty! Although, maybe a bit like the rolled roast I had the other night.
Good luck with your last bit of recovery Dave. Those boots will be more comfortable before you know it!

This one is healing fast, I knew this day was coming. It was supposed to come out on the 5th, but my surgeon had a family emergency and had to reschedule for the 8th. Then on the 7th in the evening, my water main broke, so I rescheduled for the 22nd. And now it is done :D

I'm more worried about the saliva dripping from the corner of Chuffa's mouth. :lol:
