• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Out and About (Terra, Strada)

ScottinAZ, can I request a pic of the Terra next to a saguaro? I love that country down there and envy the above ride. I think I want to somewhat duplicate it here in Colorado and also post the drastic change in climate change within an hour. The weather here may be too harsh now, but we will see. I have ridden the road from Tuscan to the top of Mount Lemmon and that was also a dramatic climate change....but only in about 15 minutes. I have only street ridden in AZ. I can't imagine how fantastic the off road riding is there.

Hello FabOneUp, next trip up I'll snap that pic. This area in the posting has a very dense Saguaro population, the Tonto National Forest, a few years back when traveling a sand wash I turned up a narrow canyon and was greeted by the largest Saguaro I've ever seen, parked the Quad under it to get a picture but have since lost it. Interesting you live in Divide, my younger brother Shane lives there also in Golden Bell on Alpine View Road. Happy Trails.
 
Headed out to Estacada and beyond on the Strada today, hit 2k miles. Running like a top. It was about 40, ice on the bridge you see here, and in the shadows so I didn't go to far. I may be nuts for riding at 40, but the folks kayaking are hard core!

I will be waiting anxiously for that pic.:) Your brother lives about 3 miles from me...crazy! Trail 717 is right outside his neighborhood and is epic as long as you complete the entire trail. It is single track and not ment for a Terra, but my little TE250 is an incredible tight woods bike. I can be to that trail system in about 5 minutes. Your brother pretty much lives on top of it.
 
What I love about Husky riders!!you guys ride make me jealous soon ill pound out some miles on my Terra and post some pica. HAPPY NEW YEAR! !! billf

My brother Shane has been riding bikes nearly his whole life like me, he currently owns a CR150R big wheel edition, which he hits that trail you mention often. He flies on that thing, funny seeing a 48 year old riding a "kids" bike. Perhaps you two will run into each other.....rephrase that, perhaps you will cross paths, he hates riding in cold weather so you might have to wait until spring to see him and his little CR blazing the trails.
 
Great New Years ride today, 110 miles, bike running fantastic. Thank goodness for heated gear. Picked up a baclava on sale at Cycle Gear for $9.99, really helped with the 40 degree weather. Spent about 4 hours on the bike exploring the hills above Sheridan, OR, had not spent much time up there previously. In my younger days I use to fly, we would have described today as CAVU. Clear an Visibility Unlimited. A really great way to bring in the New Year. My camera does not do the view justice.

The tires are Pirelli MT21's. Unlike Dunlop 606's, they make a 140 rear. I've been running MT21s for years and love the performance and life. They do good on the street (lowest priority!) but they really shine in gravel, mud, etc. There is no comparison to the stock Sahara tires. I was breaking the stockers loose both on cement and dirt and it scared the crap out of me more than once. With the MT21's the brakes actually work! They track well in the dirt and mud and make the bike way more predictable. What blew my mind was how thin and flimsy the Saharas were when I removed them. Shale rock would cut them to pieces. Cheers.
