  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Passenger Pegs on a 2010 TE 250

Has anyone tried to put passenger pegs on a TE-250? I picked up a set from a 2008 TE610, but things aren't lining up. Maybe time to convince the wife i need a second bike instead of trying to make this work :).

I would think the 08 TE bikes under the 610 would work. Looks like not much changed on the rear subframe area where they mount. Just don't think they would work on the new 449/511's though.

That's really the best solution. Passenger pegs are a bad idea on a dirt bike. I crashed a TE610 and the passenger peg ended up shattering my navicular into tiny pieces (and a couple of tarsal bones for good measure), even though I was wearing good boots. I probably would have walked away if the passenger pegs weren't there.

Dang, I would just like to say ouch! Hope you healed well, and yes, pass pegs are best suited to a 90% street bike.

that sucks. my plan is to only put them on those one or two times a summer she says it sure would be a nice day for a ride...

Are you sure that's what she means by that. LOL really though, you can do it, but it can be dangerous to leave them on all the time.

That's so funny! My wife was begging me to put a set on mine and I was in the process of fabricating a set when she all of the sudden got pregnant (not sure how that happened). I've heard that the rear subframe isn't strong enough to hold the extra weight. Well, at least I have another 7 months to ponder the question.

Rodney Smith did a charity ride two up with his wife on a DRZ. Granted she weighted about 120 fully geared up and it was suzukis bike so no one cared about the subframe but they rode about 230 mile in two days. It was amazing to see someone pass you in a nasty section with a passenger.
