• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Pics Of Your 630!

My 630, more recently...

Ran my sister up to Brevard/Pisgah, first trip up in the mountains with a passenger on the Husky.
No problems, but I lost more cornering speed on the tight stuff than I expected due to the extra squat and not being able to slide around on the seat. Also took a gravel gov't road about 4 miles into the national forest to meet up with some friends that were camping, no problems there either, but I'm glad I had the Hyde plate to keep the rocks off of the engine.
Raced the rain down the mountain on the way back as there were no shelters until we got back to Hwy 11. Hit an abandoned gas station and a couple other bikes pulled up about the same time. Then there was about 30-45min of torrential downpours and hail... Once it passed we had a clear shot home.

That's a nice thing for a brother to do. My sister won't hop on a bike with me, bad experience as a teenager I'm afraid (kept nagging me to take her for a ride, I finally relented & took her up & down some near vertical hills alongside the railway tracks near home & she never pestered me again...).

Thanks for the great pics and, no offence, but your sister is much easier on the eye than your good self.

Maybe so, but she's a bit of a wuss sometimes....

If you want to sit on my TE630 you have to prove to me you got skills first. Of course this guy qualifies hands down. Other old timers here should be familar with "The Man".

Heyyy, you've got the same cheap AFX helmet that I do! But mine's silver.
I'm saving up for a Shoei Hornet...

Looks like DeCoster to me

The one and only.

I hope you got him to sign your bike.

No I didn't think of it or I might have. He's a really nice guy, softspoken and friendly. Of course we were respectful as well. Nobody bothered him while he was eating and no photo requests until he got up from the table on his own. After he got off my bike he did look it over some, I thought he was going to ask me a question but then he didn't. Probably more curious than interested.

Yep it's actually a great helmet and I always love cheap, got it on closeout for $62. I customized it with a red Husky bullseye sticker on the rear, haha. My head shape is perfect for AFX and HJC helmets, how convenient. When this wears out I'll replace with the newer FX39. I can't justify a $300-$500 helmet when these are comfortable for me and safe.

The one thing that unnerves me a bit is that the shell isn't all that rigid. You can squeeze the chin and see it flex, and if you try to compress it front-to-back, it squishes a good bit...

If I were mostly riding offroad, I would just keep the AFX, but I commute on my bike just about every day when the weather is nice and have to deal with the crazy drivers on their cell phones in their 6000lb SUV's...:banghead:

Hadn't noticed the shell flex before but I checked it and you're right. Dual Sport is a compromise for helmets similar to our bikes, tires, jackets, etc. balanced blend of functions for both street and dirt. Not the best for either for capable.

For me I have MBS so along with that comes MHS (multiple helmet syndrome). Each has its place depending on the ride and which bike I take. Total of less than $300 invested for all five.
1 - dirt only MX helmet
1 - dual sport helmet
1 - street only modular clear shield
1 - street only modular tinted shield
1 - street only non modular for cold weather

Chris & John, thanks for the pics. How did the bikes go?

Fantastic! Best dualsport made, hands down.
We ran the piss out of them for 3 days over all manner of terrain at speeds up to mach-stupid and not a whimper from either bike.

I will say though that the stock chain guide is a complete POS. The chain hits the top or bottom when throttling on and off, and while it doesn't hurt anything is completely annoying as hell. Ordering a TM or BRP today.

That Lippincott Pass road is pretty tough I guess. Didn't think about it at the time, just point the bike where you want to go and gas it!

Lil HDR shit from last weeks Night Time City Rip with my Bro on his Hyper - He is selling it and buying a 690 next month - Has a Track Tard that he races with us but knows the fun of a street Tard too
