• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Pics Of Your 630!

Nice!
Up til now I've only had non-plated OHV bikes.I bought the 630 to do the kind of riding you've just done. I'll probably start with the CBDR or something similar if I can find a group to tag along with
(I'm not a very good planner, more of follower :D)

Mjskier, and others, come down to southern Arizona at the end of February for some good riding and socializing with the Motorcycle Tourers Forum Rough Road Ridets. I'll be riding my 630. Anyone interested send a PM and I'll fill you in. February 26-28. Cost you a week of vacation.

Should have known better as everybody was pointing to the track on the left and had their cameras out. Water was about 1 foot deep apart from the hole I rode into (was not the first).

A few things I wrapped up today:

Smaller turn signals. I got the idea from somebody else's pictures a bit earlier. You can see how much smaller they are.
And they are a lot cheaper to replace than the black fender brace the originals bolted to (My bike's was broken when I bought it)
ebay Husky sticker

On the bike:

I needed a bit more room (I'm 6'3") so fastway pegs, and a Windham bend Pro Taper. This is what I have on my other bikes so it makes the 630 feel very familiar.

Subframe brace (thanks Browneyes for the plans)
I painted the left one black (yes, I know, I need to fix the wiring routing, I just forgot which way the old turn signal wires went.

Didn't have time to paint the right one (I went riding instead before the predicted snow storm hits :))

Since I used the footpeg clamps to secure the braces, I need to order a set so that I can mount the Wolfman luggage rack.
Unless somebody has a set they want to get rid of ;)

Nice signals. Where u get them? Ebay? I think I need to get an fmf for mine before they're no longer available. Sigh.

Haha, that's right. BTW, a lot of your old pictures don't show up today.
Anyway, I'm waiting to see what you put on the front...(no hurry, they are protected by the handlebar in a fall).

Huh, I haven't been moving anything around on photobucket...

And I just used some Zeta handguards with the integrated LED flasher.

When I went LED's all around, I had to replace the flasher with a digital flasher from a KTM. It's fairly universal.

My wife has a name for people like you: "Enabler"
From Webster: Enabler: one who enables another to persist in self-destructive behavior

My Zeta Handguards are now on order... :D

Went cold weather camping last weekend to test my Alaska run setup.
-Experimenting with the DirtBagz Rangers as tank bags. Tent/Helinox chair/Helinox table/Sil-tarp/cooking stuff/food in them.
-My normal stuff in Wolfmans and top box.
-Sleeping bag/pad/pj's/pillow on the back seat.
This setup worked good for me but I'm short, If you're 5'10" plus you wouldn't have enough leg room for the tank bags. They blocked the wind great, I slabbed 200miles @70mph in 41-43deg F temps in comfort w/ heated jacket/grips running wide open. Love the versatility of this dirt bike.

Got into some slick thawing mud where I primitive camped. Ran into some GS buddies and ended up camping together, they were having fun.

Cool Bob. However, way too much stuff, too many bags, too much gear. Time to cast off the stuff you don't really need. You'll enjoy the trip much more with half the load.
Oh, I'm not very good at it either - want to bring all kinds of gear and gadgets...I'm a techy gear freak. The guys that do the really hardcore lite-bike camping are masters at 'minimalizing' their gear pack.
This fellow is a pro at it, Lost Rider: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=782994&highlight=idaho backcountry

His setup for multi-weeks trips over thousands of offroad miles. I can learn a lesson or two. LOL
