    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Play in Clutch assembly

While checking the filter on the clutch side I noticed a lot of play in the clutch assembly. Up and down, left to right. I've been told it's fairly normal for the bushing to wear out and introduce some play here.

Checking the halls catalog I found that there's two different spindle sizes - 26 and 28mm, they are also different diameters. Anyone know what the correct one would be for an '06 model? Or do I need to get in there and measure it myself?

Also, is it safe to continue running it this way until new parts show up or should I just park the bike?

Nobody here's had to replace this bushing? The bike will be parked until it's fixed. You guys might want to check yours for play, i've heard of two other guys with 610s that have had this issue.

Did you call Hall's and ask which bushing size it might be?

How many miles on the 2006 610?
 
Roughly 9500 miles on this bike.

I called halls and they didn't know what size I needed, told me to measure myself. Which is not a bad idea but I didn't want to take the bike apart and leave everything sitting that way for a couple of weeks while waiting for the new part to show up.

I called Motoxotica and Dan told me he'd sold a few recently, all 28mm. He had one left so I bought it and he mentionted it being the last one he had and that they would be on backorder after this. He also mentioned Husky had contacted him to buy one off him aswell.

Haven't heard much mention of this so maybe it's not a very common issue. The amount of play I found was definitely enough to raise an eyebrow.

Here's the part number and dimensions in case anyone might be needing it soon:

Replaced the bushing yesterday. Pretty straight forward, the clutch hub fits snug now without any play.
 
I've noticed this play:
It doesn't fade away when the discs and the plate are installed.
I'm going to replace that bushing, though the engine runs well.
 
Holy zombie thread, batman!

I replaced my bushing around 8k miles when I had it apart to check the spring cups. At 12k miles now, still holding up fine.

I used the Search box and this seemed to be the only specific thread about this issue. :excuseme:

I noticed the shaky bushing when I was reinstalling the clutch, after having fixed the cups problem. I wanted to use the bike and so I provisionally reused the bushing, but I forgot to measure its diameter. Tomorrow I'm going in the dealer's city and so I'd like to order the new bushing.
In the parts catalog, on page 39 there are two different bushings:“Bushing (Ø 26 mmxØ 23 mm)” and “Bushing (Ø 28 mmxØ 25 mm)”; in the Validity rectangle they wrote "F.m." for the former and "D.m." for the latter. On page 2 there are the meanings: F.m. stands for "Fino alla matricola", i.e. "until V.I.N." and "D.m." stands for "Dalla matricola", i.e. "From V.I.N." (it's Italian).
I obviously know my bike V.I.N., but they don't say until what V.I.N. there is the 26 mm bushing and from which one there is the 28 mm bushing.
Tomorrow I'll bring the dealer a piece of paper on which I've written the number; maybe he'll be able to tell me which bushing I need.

EDIT: The dealer hasn't been able to tell me the right choice either. I'll measure the bushing.
