  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

i have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to carry extra fuel as easy as possible. i am aware of the kolpin mounted on the tail however i want to use a giant loop for carrying gear for my baja trips. today i mocked up an auxiliary right side tank out of cardboard to see how it would look and see how much fuel i could potentialy gain. it is pretty friggen ugly, but it got me thinking maybe i could use the stock can, minus all the shit inside and mount it on the right side. by my calculations i could gain 1 - 1.5 gallons. i will try to get started tomorrow, but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions feel free to chime in. since Husqvarna won't provide anything for me it is either this or go back to the Orange bikes where fuel is not an issue.:doh:
 
How long and loud do we need to shout at husky USA about larger tanks for all models? This is becoming ridiculous. They must realize the huge amount of sales they loose over not being willing to provide and SELL us oversized tanks. We have been asking for years and are more than willing to PAY for this option. Sell more bikes, sell accessories. Seems EZ to make that call.

If only I would have known before hand, I would probably be riding something different than a Husky right now. Husky is selling and getting there brand noticed. Now all they have to do is follow up with some good accessories so people can ride more than 20 miles!

I guess KTM started out like this too didn't they? KTM has come a long way, especially with the aftermarket segment.

check this, already placed on a Husky 510TE 09, connected with an IMS tank directly, gives me now more than 240 km of capacity, already raced a 1500km race, so far very happy and a very cheap solution, easy to install.

I don't see how any of those two tank options will work with a fuel injected bike.... you'd have to stop and transfer it. could be made to work with a carb....... am i wrong on this ?? :excuseme::excuseme:

Well said! I just spent $800 on a tank for my Husky because it's the only thing available. I'm hesitant to buy a new husky for this very reason.
 
spoke with just gas tanks

i spoke with a gentleman from just gas tanks and asked if he had heard anything about new tanks for husky's. he said by late winter or early spring we should see a 4 gallon for the husky from safari. i will believe it when i see it.

Ummmmm KTM was founded in 1934

Husqvarna was founded in 1689 making bikes since 1903.

Why are we giving them a pass for starting out?
