  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your 4 stroke bikes!

After being away for the last couple weeks I was finally able to get the "new" Husky out for a road ride after some mandatory maintenance. Changed the oil, air filter, and coolant and brought it into Dan at Motoxotica to install some new tires, rear flush turn signals, brake and clutch fluids, and new fork seals and oil. Wasn't expecting to do the fork seals, but its done and now don't have to worry about it happening out on the trails.

The rain is back today again so another ride will unfortunately have to wait. Can't wait to get her on the trails. Not as smooth and a little more vibration then my 15' Beta 500 was, but feels like a lot more power. The 8 years difference in technology the probably the main reason for that. The Goldentyre 333 rear and the Pirelli MT16 front are decent on the road but should excel better in the dirt. Overall I think it turned out really good. Still far less expensive than buying new, despite my desire for a 350, and that was the goal. No payments and a solid dual-sport bike.Huskyte5107.JPG Huskyte5106.JPG

Crunched the stock exhaust on some rocks a couple weeks ago so ... might as well replace it! And if I’m doing that then might as well add a JD tuner which means I should just go ahead and get sprockets :)73B6D1F6-B102-4DC4-8418-EDE73AA8EC94.jpeg

Spent a couple hours opening some new trails this afternoon and this thing is a woods slayer. Rekluse should arrive tomorrow ... that’ll be the jewel in the crown. Love this bike!

First Post

2010 TXC 510 "Chook Chaser"
Bought as a rebuild project with a view to competing in the veteran's class in Australian Desert Racing
Bike has very low engine hours, but had been sidelined due to a leaking countershaft seal.
Overall condition was good but there was a lot of mud in linkages and bearings (most likely from pressure cleaning)

Rebuild work so far has been
Suspension - dismantle, clean and new seals all round
Linkages - dismantle, clean re-lube.
Steering Head - new bearings
Wheels - new bearings
Front & rear Brakes - rebuilt, new pads, seals and fluids
Carburetor - clean and install rebuild kit

To do:
Check Piston and cylinder - maybe replace
Check clutch - replace as required
Inspect Engine & Transmission bearings with a view to replace.

To add
Larger fuel tank
Steering Damper
Speedo

Thoroughly enjoying working on this bike.
