• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

PWK Cr500 Jetting tips?

So this is how it went.

I got the carb today and thought.
What the heck, I just try to fit it and see whats happens.

The PWK has a much smaller diameter on both the front and the back,
but the Husky intake and box was flexible enough so i just tightened the clamps.

Rolled it out.
Gastap on.

Leaaaking like hell.
The Snowmobile is fitted with an ACCS system (Altitude Compensation Carburetor System)
Witch is a hose that goes from the bowl to some thingywingy, but I don't have that system so I just priming my lawn.

Anyway.
After some reading in the Polaris service manual i found out that the ACCS system is at atmospheric pressure when riding in normal Altitude = I just connected a hose and mounted it up in the rear fender.

Second try.
Gastap on.

No leak.

One kick.
Wham.
And it started.

I could not believe what i was hearing or seeing.
It has NEVER happened before.

I let it idle when I get dressed.
Didn't die.

Weird.

Time for a spin.
Whooaaaa, what the heck happened to my nice bike.
Before my bike was very kind under 1/4 throttle.
Now it just said brapp and aimed me right to the bushes.
The response is AMAZING.
It runs like a dream.

Full throttle runs, no problem.
Crusing, no problem.

THIS WAS A GOOD BUY!

Let us see a video! :D

How is your compression then? :)

I will make one for you guys.
But not today.

I haven't meassured mine, but it's high.

II took a long drive with the cr yesterday and I don't have the same power on top.
And that is probably because of the bigger main jet.

The carb is fitted with.
#48 pilot
#190 main.

I could go down to atleast #180 to get more power on top but a bigger chance of siezing the piston.

I would be very happy if you could measure the compression! :)
where in sweden are you?
thought I read something about manufacture a 44t rear sprocket, where do you work at? :O

Sure.
I think I have a tester somewhere.
But bare in mind that I have siezed my piston atleast three times so I have sanded it clean with emery cloth.

I live in a small place called Dingle, but I do work in Halden in Norway.

Yes, I bought a JT aluminum sprocket without holes.

ok :)

how have you managed to sieze the piston so many times? is it the ring or the piston skirt?

where did you buy that sprocket? :)

I might take a trip to sweden soon, as I have a ktm 380 cylinder at Rolle (Nikasilproffsen) to pick up :)

Well, I had fuel starvation problems with my old carb, and doing track days is maby not the smartest thing to do.

I bought it from Anders @ S-racing.se.

You are werry welcome.

Last I checked ( november 2013 after fresh bore and piston ) it was at 155psi or 10.8 bar

Hi:
And sorry for the late answer.
I have tested my bike now and it was slightly above 10 bar.
Now my left foot is sore.

The 44 sprocket didn't fit on my bike because my rear sprocket is moved out to clear the tire, the chain scrubbed the brake drum arm hold thingy.
Kinda sucks.

Get yourself a WR six speed gearbox and that 16/48 gearing should do about 170km/h ;)

well, I don't have less compression then you. mine was at 10,8. I can't understand why my start so easily compared to yours. I run SEM ignition at 2,0mm BTDC
I CAN sit and start my 500 if I give it a really hard and fast kick, but it is much easier to jump a little :)
I use TE610 kickstarter gear though..

I will but not this summer.
Now I want to drive hehe.

Maybe you have really strong legs?

Sometimes I can start it with my left leg.
But I have to stand against a wall, put it in TDC and really use all my weight and power, otherwise I won't get a full stroke.
It just stops halfways if I do it wrong.

You should get here and try it.

Getting close on the Jetting now.

DGL needle.
50 Pilot.
180-190 main depending on how you use it.

So if more People try the PWK39 you can start with this setting.
