  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I cannot answer all your questions, but my bike is running strong with the JD jet kit with recommend settings. It starts warm or cold with 1-2 kicks. It has a slight bog when lugged and the throttle is whacked, but this is a 4T thing (I think MXA solved it with a Boyesen accelerator pump).

thanks ....hope somebody lets me know where to find a flywheel weight ...I think it will make a huge difference

I just don't know if anyone makes a flywheel weight for one. Give George at Uptite a call, he would be the one to ask.

If a flywheel weight is not available maybe an auto-clutch would do the trick? Pretty sure there is at least one company making these for the TC.

JS

thanks ....

whom is George what is uptite ? a dealer I presume ( may I ask for coordinates )

I looked into a rekluse auto clutch and they do make one but a 1000$ plus instalation it is not in the same range as a flywheel weight of around 150$

I doubt that you will see a FWW for this bike. Contacting www.steahlyoffroad.com or Zip-ty racing would be the most likely places to start.

Why are you thinking you need a FWW? Are you having stall or dieing issues?

I'm woking on a nasty bog that developed toward the end of the day Sunday. It got to where it didn't want to idle very clean and would die when I'd pull the clutch in. Not sure if something is screwed up, or it's just changing as it breaks in.

Revloc is supposed to have a auto clutch unit for us pretty soon.

Also, try gearing it down. I went from stock to 51 and that made a huge difference on tight technical stuff. If I rode really slow technical stuff I would go to a 52/53. From everyone's impressions here at CafeHusky, 52/53 makes the bike into a tracter.

I have noticed this bike to be pretty sensitive to weather changes. It pops a bit when it is cold out, and idles rough (sometimes dies) when it get hot. It is not enough for me to worry about the jetting....yet.

One tooth on the rear does make a big difference. I'm running the 3.92 ratio also and I think it's much better.

I'm going to have to dig into the jetting because mine is really bad. I ordered a quick shot 3, flex jet and hot start lever for it, to get me started.

hey guy's thank's for all the post back !

been ridding it HARD for a while, here are my first impressions
these are my opinions ( nothing more ! )

First : the bike gets MUCH better after break in !
2nd : it is very nimble
3rd : compare to my ktm300 2 strk the thing runs on almost no gas !
4th : once you get the starting procedure down it starts ok ( not great ) ok !
now the not so good :
1-white gets UGLY real fast ! .... wow it looks 2 years old already ( single track rough stuff ) couple of dumps in the rock pile !
2- what idiotic engineer put the hot start on the other side of the crank ????? IDIOT ! so now will order the hot start relocator !
3- really to easy to stall ....and when you try and chug back from a curve in 2nd the piston hits and vlam your stalled ( argghhhhh flywheel weight NEEDED )
4- what I wouldn't do for a starter !?
5- parts and after market accesories for us in Canada are none existant !

overall ..... It is a love hate relationship for now but I will not sell my 09 ktm XC300
and design wise ....beautifull machine !

IMO the only way to run a 2010 TC250 off road in technical stuff is with a Rekluse. Way too easy to stall. I kicked and kicked this bike like no other...Just get a Rekluse and save your cardio for the trail!

I'm way too spoiled with the perfect Berg EFI. Any other bike seems to have bad jetting.

I'm thinking about trying a Boyesen quickstart, quickshot...

Gearing like said go 51 or 52 rear.

My 2010 TC250 started like a dream. I dont know if mine was just a good one or if there was some different about it?

I did put an EXP on mine and loved it. I generally hate Rekluse clutches, but the EXP is a keeper. I do have them in stock if you wanted one.

A 51T sprocket worked really good as well.

The Boyessen quick shot made my bike harder to start so I took it off.

We've had our TC 250 for a year now and it's always been an easy starter. I find that it is a bit sensitive to the fuel screw adjustment, but even with the screw mis-adjusted, it's usually a 1 to 4 kick starter cold or hot. With the screw right on, it's 1 or 2 kicks every time.
