  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rain Rain, Go away!

I love the rain. I just hate trying to change in and out of my rain riding gear while IN the rain. If I had a motorhome or some other cozy place to change duds out of the weather, I wouldn't even be here typing this because I would be out riding in the wet stuff.

Guess I'm just getting old.:busted:

Cheap cargo van

I totally don't mind riding in the rain, snow, sleet, howing wind, temps in the teens, whatever... but in order to do that I need my benevolent National Forest Service to leave the trails open. They used to have a very precise and scientific formula they would use to calculate when to close the trails due to rain. Now it's just an arbitrary decision handed down by some agenda-driven hydrologist in an office 100 miles away from the nearest trail

just get out and ride, did you know there is a single law enforcement lady officer for all the Stanislaus? Fairly overweight, butch haircut with Oakley Blades shades in a brand spankin new SSSuv patrol vehicle. She patrols White Pines and Crandall Peak.

Not a fan of the constant moisture we've had here for so much of the year. I'm not a native of the area and at first found the dampness to be neat but now find it to be yet another nuisance on top of the insane traffic and high cost of living. Need a desert vacation! I grew up at 4000' and do know a LITTLE bit about temperate desert life and tend to enjoy it.

Earlier, I promised I'd make a "jealousy" post, well, here it is, 70 degrees, sunny, a little humid, and a CRAPPED OUT FUEL PUMP. I stopped to take these pics, and sure enough, turn it back on, and the fuel pump can barely turn over...sheesh, luckily I am in contact with someone from Husky now, hope to get some action soom, my warranty runs out Dec 28.

I don't mind if is starts raining while I'm already at a campsite and set up but I have no ambition to starting off in the rain and go looking for some place to set up camp.
Right now the LA basin has received over 7" of rain in the last few days. My back yard has about 1" of standing water, my flower beds look like fish ponds, streets in my town are now nothing but shallow waterways, phone service and internet are marginal at best and there isn't even anything good on TV.

Sounds bad....welp, I guess there's only one thing to do....go riding. Honestly, I am getting cabin fever and will soon have to go for a ride even if it requires a snorkel and fins.:D

If my bike wasn't currently set up for supermoto I'd almost be tempted to brave the weather just a ride in on one of the local trails but street riding in this weather sucks and all my off road set up is elsewhere at the moment.

Lets see we got a little bit of rain more of a drizzle here in Palm Springs Calif But if you ride about 20 miles toward az no rain Rode both Sat and Sun no rain in the Desert

I guess the high desert is doing OK but here in the basin we're getting hammered. I don't think the infastructure here was designed to handle this heavy a rain for such a sustained period.

It has rained since Friday and will be raining til Thursday. Just about 25 miles east of my place, Palomar mountain has had about 9 inches of rain so far during this storm.

Well it's snowed here since what seems like friggen early November**************************************** You guys/ gals suck. I can only stare at my bike in the garage with aprox 10"+ of snow on the outside. I'd love the rain. In fact the 2nd to last ride I had was with about 7 guys in the cold and rain. Awesome trip! It even made the MN flat track web site for trail rides! I'm so desperate I'm thinking of taking out the Yam xt225 for a road ride on the ice. You guys/gals don't suck, I'm just jelous.

You've definitely got a point compared to my whiney ass. The Swedes may call you a coward, though :D

Looks like the 14yr old daughter and I are going to "participate" in the Hangover Scramble at Washougal in a couple of weeks. Looks like easy riding :busted: Muckfest****************************************

Had to re-light the water heater last night (better than in the morning). It's in the basement and high winds tend to blow the pilot out. One year, 2003, the basement flooded as the ground was saturated under the house. Got a sump pump in there now but so far the water is minor.

I would be really lucky to not ride in the dust. So far in Mojave we have got about 6-7 inches. The ground is going to be amazing if it ever stops raining.

I'm used to riding in dust and I hate riding in it! I'm waaaaay back there out of the group and the dust cloud.
