  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rear Light

Has any one fitted the race light supplied with the TE bikes (09 450TE), without drilling and bolting it to the rear tail? If so what method did you use?
Thanks.

Just bust down and drill the holes... I finally did. It came out fine. It did hurt to drill holes in a new bike though. As for the wiring, I pulled the harness back up the left side of the bike so the turnsignal wires ran where the original harness was. Then ran the "racing" tail light wires up the right side of the bike. Then had the molex plug connect together under the seat. Put some zip ties in a few places... came out good. The light wiring is a PIA but if you know that the LED light wont work right unless the engine is running you shouldnt have a problem. My running light works fine with the engine off.. then if you grab the brake the light goes out all together. with the bike on... all is well... good luck

Heres a link to Denniskirk that shows the license plate holder held on with 2 screws. (hope the link works) I considered buying this instead of drilling holes. But then figured if I screwed up the drilling I could just buy this anyway. The drilling came out good, just measure 2-3 times then drill.

Mr Glangston, Did you put on that GUTS seat cover yourself? if so, what adhesive did you use around the quick release?

my rear fender has so many holes in it, my bike has to be lighter:D, first mounted the baja design led light/fender, mounted wolfman bag, motosportz rear rack and now the enduro fender, i had to drill in the sides to mount the turn signals with the enduro fender.

I just cover the holes not being used with decals!

Well done it, loks cool, but as Happy trucker said, works fine with engine running, but goes out when the brake goes on with out the engine running. Why?

Look no holes

I couldn't drill my fender. I plan to reinstall my larger tail light, plate holder, and signals assembly depending on equipment requirements. I made the race tail light fit into the nice sturdy aluminum bracket in a modular fashion. Using thin pieces of s/s, I created two side mount holes. The top centre hole works. To aline the side holes, keep the centre holes bolted together. Mount the s/s pieces to the aluminum bracket. bend and pop rivet the s/s to the race light. No holes in the fender.

You know another option is UFO makes replacement rear fenders for like $20.00. You could keep the original for when you sell the bike. I have the shorty race light on my TXC and have the graphics fender kit that covers the screws, does not look too bad in my opinion.

Ok, this is a little off but does anyone have pics or part numbers for the rear light stuff and harness for an 09 wr125? My stuff is missing or wrong. I only have a small lens that looks like it came off something from 1990. The harness does not have a matching plug for the headlight and the speed sensor will not plug into anything I have. Help please!

I like the way you made the tabs for that. Makes it look very clean. Where are you going to mount the turn signals? By looking at that it looks like you could use the original holes just behind the tail light mount, unless you use flush mount signals.

Thanks. The modular design allows me the option to use the factory signals with the race light. However, I pulled out the tail light with signals harness and plugged the race light directly into the main harness in front of the air box. You can retain the tail light harness, plug in the race light and the factory signals and you've got a much cleaner looking rear end with no holes in your fender.

Thanks Andrew,
I have a 2009 TE510 which I recently purchased new. I have performed the PU modification, but I didn't receive a tail light assembly as shown.

How bizarre.

You're welcome!

You can try asking your dealer for it, but I was told that the closeout 2009s were somewhat hit and miss regarding what extras shipped with them.

Still, it's worth a shot...
