• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rear shock rubbing

Nick780

Husqvarna
AA Class
Was doing a quick scrub and check of the bike when I noticed this wear on the rear shock for the first time.
Looks like it's rubbing on the spring...

Anyone else have this happening? Cause for concern?

Yeah they happen if you want a cheap fix for a year or so i cut the front innertube and made a shock sock to protect it a bit more, espesially required in muddy conditions, the rubbers starting to perish now but still have plenty of tube left.

It's hard to get in there to check but there is definitely some clearance between the spring and the shock. Rock makes perfect sense.
I'll keep an eye on it but I'm willing to wager that was it.

Thanks,

I have similar markings and I had a rock wedge in tight. I had to break the rock with a long screwdriver and hammer to get it out.

I wish someone would make an aftermarket shock for the 650

Did he make something for your Terra?
I have to go & pick up some fork seals & bushings from him this week so I can talk to him about it.

He did 2 new rear shocks for my ZRX, plus all the work on my Terra Shock & Forks, he's been doing all my suspension work on all my bikes for over 15 years (maybe longer)
I have great regard for him & his work
At some point l will get a new shock from him

Why spend so much money, when there are better less expensive options on the market?

There are better, less expensive motorcycles than the Husky, so I suppose it is all about preferences and options.

I myself would be happy with a decent progressive rear spring on the current setup. For the front, I have no idea. Once the hot weather gets hear I have to tear the fronts apart anyway because of the clunk. At that time I will figure something out for that as well.
