• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Red Headed Stepchild Getting Sister???

I agree. There are a lot more Sertao owners out there. If they are experiencing anything like we are, people are going to get pissed. Perhaps at the very least Moss updates will be more relevant now?

I don't know if we would get lucky and Moss updates will apply.
I am assuming the "tune" of the 2014 BMW's is still the same and not the "hot rod" set up like ours.
As such, the ECU programing is probably different, and perhaps the ECU's themselves are different even if made by Magnetti Marelli.

What might come of this however is that software like GS911 could stand a better chance at being compatible with our bikes as the BMW guys push them for compatibility with their Mag Marelli ECU's.

And the process has already begun.

Another "nuance" to this bike (2014 G650GS) is that I bought the GS911 to assist with the technical issues and the only diagnostic function that is active is the volt meter.

I contacted HEX to inquire about the diagnostic properties and they informed me that my bike was too new for their software parameters. They did state that they would support the newer bikes in a short period of time.

I interpet this as good news for us TR owners.

So is the Sertao an ugly step bro? Not really a step bro, because daddy bmw planted the seed, so the Sertao would have to be the younger Ugly Half Bro.

Sure explains why Husky could not continue the TR650 and Nuda.

All it really explains is that Mag Marelli out bid Bosch.

But yea I think it will be good for us.

" All it really explains is that Mag Marelli out bid Bosch."
It could also be explained by the fact the the TR is so much smoother and better powered than the BMW650 and now Husky is sufficiently removed, they have decided to use an obviously better ECU for the bike. BMW has very strong links with Bosch so I doubt the decision was made on purely economic grounds and the Magnetti unit already runs the motor. Would be interesting to see if the new BMW uses the Husky cam timing as well.
