    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Just out of curiosity has anyone put a Rekluse clutch in their older bike's? There's an 87 400 with 86 plastics for sale in my area ( guy is asking far too much in my opion). Anyway I'm seriously considering purchasing this bike at a lower price then he's offering and was wondering if it would be possible.
 
IF they made it it would not clear the primary / clutch cover. And you could not use a spacer then the shift and kicker would not mate.

I looked into an Auto Clutch for my 430s. EFM also makes an auto clutch and it's cheaper than the Rekluse.
I emailed Garry the owner. Nice guy, he will make an auto clutch for anything. He said his clutch needs at least 1/2 inch (13mm) of extra space.

Joe is right, it would need a spacer.
Since the older Huskys have left-hand kicker and no separate clutch cover, an auto clutch wouldn't work.
Here's a pic of the EFM auto clutch installed with spacer on a Honda or something...

What about the later covers that had a separate removable clutch cover ? You could make a CNC machined spacer to fit. The gear lever can be modified.

Later years maybe. As long as the kickstarter is not part of the clutch cover. "check your application" as they say.
Easier to modify the gear lever but not the kicker. And the coolant impeller. Not realistic on the left-kicker Swedish made, that I could see.
 
I had EFM make me an Auto clutch for my '86 510 about 4 years ago. It was explained to me about the spacer being needed so I used one of the later clutch covers from a 1997 610. As it turned out it fitted perfectly without the spacer so I can only assume there is a lot more clearance in the older bikes than there is in a modern one.
I ran it for a season then went back to the conventional clutch, it's not bad but it's not as good as the Rekluse in my GasGas 300. So yes its possible to do and if anyone is interested I might be willing to part with the EFM Auto clutch, it cost me in the region of about $650 to have made. Thinking about it, it would probably work better in the 2 stroke 430 than it does on the 4 stroke.
