• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Do you guys use the cheap fmf repacking or the oem rockwool? 30hr or 60hr changes?

Cheap matt stuff every top end(50-100 hours bike dependent). Steel wool around core first
Flat Steel wool material first wrap? Im kinda confused where i find that at? Ok, so, your saying one wrap wool then cheap white stuff on top?

Yeh the proper steel wool shit(they are small pads that u can unwrap) not the stainless scourer things. Yep wrap them over core first covering it all(probably use 6-8 of em) then tightish wrap of Matt packin, use maskin tape to keep in place while puttin can back on

Do you mean this stainless kitchen wool ?

Because I would think that the normal steel wool would not last very long because of the moisture that will transform it into rusty dust in no time :D

I wasn't really using this steelwool before, what are the benefits of it ?

Regards.

PS. I'm using normal white silencer wool and change it about every year or so, Now I should change it again because it started to make some more noise...

Nah not them they're the scourer type that would rust up in no time! Steel wool pads. C if I cn find a pic. As long as u rnt puttin the hose down yor exhaust wen washin no probs with rust. Bn doin em this way for years after member Ausky showed me. If u in a dry climate could jus use steel wool for entire packin but take ages to pack it with individual pads!

image.jpg type in top left pic. Jus unroll em.

Cheap as chips, stops ya packin gettin soaked with oil(so can reuse), won't burn/blow out/break down as easily n better sound deadening apparently. My wr300 muffler came from factory with it too.

Might be a load of horseshit for all I know tho! :)

Well I've got two silencers to pack. I'll have to give that a try Shawry. Makes sense to me. Thanks for the tip.

Haha yeah strange in deed but i will try it out. Look for it at hardware store this week. And wrap white over top.

Like I said Ausky put me onto it. I also asked why not jus do whole packing with it but yeh rust be the issue. Wen I took stock silencer apart n saw that's how it came from Italy thought must be sumthn to it

Nice video Johnny! Mellow yet trippy

FYI never had any sign of rust as it's a 2t so normally a bit black n oily/carbony. Doesn't hurt anythin so can't see a drama with it. Agreed 2t don't generally run hot enough to burn packin but if u really wringin it's neck they still get quite warm(the core especially)! Plus like I say it stops the spooge runnin right through n soakin the entire packin rendering it useless basically. Please yaselves lads jus MHO.

repacked many 2 stroke they do not use the steel wool, even the stock replacement slide on ones are all fiber matt

Fiber matt is very pricey, fmf packing 8.00
Steel wool throwing sparks? PRICELESS****************************************

FMF usually has a support truck at gncc races and was talking with one of the guys there few season back about packing my 4t and he told me to use saran wrap. I had always used masking tape but the reason for the saran wrap was that the glue from the tape can get hot melt and make mess. Probably more likely on 4t than 2t but I switched to it and it gets job done. Melts away with no trace.
