    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Replacement fan

My billet radiator guards did a good job of protecting my radiators this weekend, however my fan took a shot and broke the plastic mounting bracket that attaches it. We were riding some tight single track and I didn't notice that it was broke until the fan came on. I heard this noise and thought I got a stick stuck in my wheel, I looked down and the fan was on and bouncing all over my engine loosing pieces of blade whenever it hit.

My question is; is there an quality alternate replacement out there (no computer fans), or do I just suck it up and order one from the dealer? Thanks, Ken

For any of you that want to order one of these fans, here is the DL. I tried to order one online from the above site, and their order screen froze up at the last click (twice). In the end I didn't know if I had ordered zero, one, or two fans. I tried to call them, but they only have a fax number. I emailed them asking for a phone number, or to call or email me and I gave them my number. I received no response, so I called my credit card to verify that no charge had been made to them, then I ordered the part from the company below. It was a smooth transaction, with people you can call and talk to if there is a problem.

Does anyone know if the wiring connecters on the fan are the same as on the bike?

UPDATE; fan is back ordered, should know tomorrow the approximate delivery date, until then I will have to bypass slow single track.
 
Sorry about the crappy service, I just done some quick research for another guy and that site had a lower price than the other places I seen.

The plug does look the same, but I cant be sure without a closer pic.
 
Update; Spal USA does not have any in stock, nor did any of the half dozen distributors that I tried. These are on back order until the next container arrives in August. This is the exact part that is on the bike, so it is an easy replacement, as it has the correct connector.

The husky part number is 8000A7715
Spal # is 30103018 or VA32-A101-62A

If there is a sticky for replacement parts, maybe the above info should go there.

There is one on ebay. Do they have to have them in stock to post there. I just wanted to add that the push fan part numbers are very similiar ( you dont want these VA32-A101-62S and 30103019 ) and not to be confused with the pull fan part numbers.
 
One more thing to add. When I got mine from Spal several months back they mentioned to me it was unadvisable use a "push" fan in place of a "pull" fan, ( by reversing the polarity of the two wires). Even though the fan would run in the opposite direction it will not perform the same.

I called doc'sBLOCKS and they had them in stock for $49.95. I will update this once it arrives.
