• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Replacement seat options

I have been riding my 2015 TE300 for several months now. I love the bike, but need to do something about the seat.

There is virtually no padding at all, and my ass is sore for at least a day after riding.

What's available for the TE300 to improve it?

Thanks!

The factory tall seat has additional padding and is around 130 bucks for the entire seat assembly. Seat concepts is a nice option but is wider and heavy from my experience.
Personally, I run the factory tall seat and find the comfort acceptable. I've done over 300 mile days on it and still rode the next day. The standard oem husky seat is really low and banana shaped with very little padding. Weird setup really.

Guts is a great solution as well. I ran a tall guts pad and cover on my 2012 310. Pretty decent product, a bit pricey for what it is though and it wasn't much of an improvement over the OEM seat pad and cover. TBH, the OEM Husky replacement seats are a better deal since you get a complete seat assembly VS padding and a cover which you'll need to install on your seat pan.

I just changed to the factory tall seat on my new 15 300. I did one ride with stock seat and it was bad. The dealer installed all the tall guy things for me before I took delivery of the bike but the seat had not come yet. It is big improvement over stock. Not as tall as the KTM tall seat, but seems to be right.

I agree. The Husky tall seat still has a banana shape to it and looks like a standard height seat on most other bikes. I'm not sure why Husky builds these bikes with such a low standard seat. The tall seat is only 20mm taller than the stock but I'd prefer it to be another 15mm taller to make it flat and take the droopy banana shape out of it.

The stock 2014' seat is quite a bit softer from the experience I've had with my 14' and 15'. I feel the 15' keep you in position better though.

The tall seat might be just a tad bit too tall for me. The bike is high as it is, and I am not real tall myself.
If you get the tall soft seat foam you will sink down in the seat close to the height of a regular seat. I bought the tall soft seat foam from Guts to gain height but it didn't really do that, I should have ordered the medium foam.

I just rode all morning with the factory tall seat and it was night and day compared to the stock seat. I am 6'4" and about 280 in my gear. The seat could be a shade taller, but it worked fine. All my KTMs have the KTM tall seat and they are very tall. At 60 years old my knees need all the help they can get. I had real problems standing up with the stock seat but the Husky power seat, no problems. I do have a guts tall seat on my KX500, and it is FIRM.

I went with the Seat Concepts Tall seat and lower position on Fastway pegs.....much like Sierra 41 I need to give me knees all the help they can get.
