• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Riding Is A Lot More Fun Than Working

Riding is a lot more fun than work. SF is a zoo right now, what with Fleet Week (The Blue Angels are staying in my hotel!) football and the NLDS playoffs in town so I took yesterday off. Went up to Foresthill with a co-worker to get some WR action...

It looks kinda dusty, but the dirt underneath was nice and moist. It was even better higher up...

I took a different line...

No, I didn't fall over...

Trials tire + rocks + WR = satisfaction guaranteed :)

P1020668.jpg

That was fun!

Kinda fuzzy, but it shows how pretty the trails are...

Nice views from the ridgetops...

More to come...

Can you see my co-worker Tom lying in the brush after falling off the trail? A little bit of his blue bike can be seen to the left of the rider in the photo...

Trail 5 has some spots where it would be prudent to not fall off the trail. This spot wasn't so bad, but still...

P1020676.jpg

This is looking back up the trail. It always looks worse (os should that be "better?" :D) in real life, but it wasn't too bad. I rode down it on the pegs without incident...

P1020677.jpg

Getting ready to ride up the other side, which was nice loamy dirt with no rocks...at first :)

More trail goodness...

I had planned on camping but had to deal with a creepy guy in a station wagon that wanted to camp in my spot. I told him that I was camping in that spot and that there were numerous other places to camp in the forest. He pulled in next to my van, like right next to my van, 3' from my door, and I asked him if he was turning around. He opened his door and said "I'm gonna camp here." I couldn't believe it! I again said "This is my spot, and, um, I'm camping here!" Tom saw what was going on and walked over and the guy left. We saw his car parked down the road when we got back from our ride 7 hours later, but he was nowhere to be seen. He had no camping gear, no cooler or anything. It was just weird. Since Tom had to leave right then and there I packed up, too, and went home.

It was a great day in the forest, and I absolutely love the little WR! I'm getting more and more confident on it every time I ride it. It's still a little tall for me, but I just deal with it since it's such a great package:thumbsup:

Looks like you are doing really well on the WR. Everyone should have at least one. Too much fun!

When I get off the 450 and ride the WR, I feel like Shane Watts, well sort of anyway.

Was this out of China Wall (5or6?). Also, how bad was the dust? I was up there two weeks ago and I've never seen dust that bad. My air filter and lungs were choking.
Great Pic's!

Yeah, I'm digging it! It's kinda touchy as far as tuning goes. It still isn't perfect, and it seems to be really sensitive to air screw changes. I carry a little tiny screwdriver with me when I ride it :)

Nice pics and where is trail 5?

Trail 5 is one of two really good trails in the Foresthill area of the Tahoe National Forest in the Sierra foothills of northern California.

I'm sorry (being a goon), I missed the caption where you said trail 5. Anyway, looks like the trails arent as dusty.

Yep, Trail 5. Dust? What dust? There were warning signs all over to watch out for the incredibly dusty and dangerous conditions. As you can see in the photos, conditions were aboslutely perfect. Trails 5 and 6 can be kinda hairball when wet, but there was just the right amount of moisture yesterday. The leaves were all wet and it would feel great when brushing up against them:)

And on a related note
It is now confirmed; the world is round, no fear of falling off the edges

I repeat, THE WORLD IS ROUND !

Woodsy, you’re just having entirely too much fun with your life….keep it up

:lol: You seriously crack me up, Muddy! I am picturing the old Saturday Night Live newscast set

And yes, I do manage to eke out a little bit of fun every now and again. I only get so many heartbeats and I don't want to waste a single one :)

It sounds like a fun time for sure, but you forgot to douse the creep's station wagon with gasoline and set it on fire on your way out. Well...I guess you can't risk burning the forest down. Maybe just pull all the schrader valves out of his tires and throw them in the bushes.:busted:

Boy Woodschick (for some reason I have a hard time using Woodschick instead of T) , Your making it real hard not to dirty up the YZF before getting the TE! Looks fantastic up there! Hey I'm sure you've thought of this already, but if you took Eric's last name, you could be known as Woodschick TE!

Eric is interested in doing Trails 5 and 6 before the snow flies. Interested?
