    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

OK at the consumer market level there's not alot of data on the 4CS forks. Many are complaining about set up etc etc . They are very modern forks that need a good consumer level R&D job done on them. I write consumer level because I'm sure the WP engineers know exactly what to do with them for different set ups.
Anyway I finally decided to allow my suspension components to be sent to the "lab"....it kinda is and its up in the NorCal brain trust zone. My local suspension guy is partnered with a group of core engineers up north. They will run the forks (shock is WP nothing different) through 3 different dynos do a bunch of math number crunching (flow rates, fluid dynamic type stuff etc etc ). And hopefully give me a set of 4CS forks that eat rock gardens, stick to vert rocks and keep me comfortable all day long. Im down with injury so there it is, they have plenty of time to play in the lab. hopefully good will come of this
 
PS partner companies are, Suspension 101 (San Diego) and Smart Performance Suspension (for R&D) up in NorCal. Giving it a shot, suspension goes up to Los Gatos to the lab. Word is, Dave has some core high end engineers working with him.

as usual no real reason....just that local George/S101 is so easy for access, he handles all back and forth stuff with Dave/Smart Perf.
Also George is a great and knowledgeable guy and his team want to R&D the 4CS forks and learn the heck out of them inside and out, and with me being down, I just rolled my TE300 into his shop and my 4CS will be their baseline units.
S101/Smart Perf is tuning Axell Hodges stuff....new kid thats all over 22 motorsports radar.
You know there's not alot of consumer level data yet for the 4CS.
And yes I know ZipTy has the direct oem link as well as the WEC suspension tuner link. And also note this is not an end all spot. If everything works as S101 has assured me all will be fine, if not we have other resources. Giving it a shot. Not dissing anyone, all my past tuners have done the job well...maybe it would be good to stick with one? I just want to try new stuff.
 
Trying something different, I get it. No prob, was just wondering. Those forks have been out for several years, lots of info on them. House of HP knows all sorts of stuff about them as well as ZipTy I'm sure.
 
Ive been back riding my forks and shock hard .
We (Suspension 101/Smart) installed .51 spring up front and 6.1 spring out back.
Shock is OEM WP stock with the heavy spring.

The forks are still not where I want them but we are a work in progess, we added 10cc of fluid to counter a severe hard hit bottom off a near vert rock drop off that I got that scared me and shocked my newly healed wrist. Bike is much more bottom resistant.
Even after some valve stack changes (for test after dyno info was seen, now getting real world tested)
I am at 23 out on COMP and 20 out on REB--way out. I like my forks to "float" over sharp HSCOMP hits like sharp loose rocks, so out next move is to (needed anyway) to finally add a preload spacer maybe just a couple of mm, because now we have an empty spot zero preload with a space (spring clicking) and go from #3 oil to a special blend of super lite #1 all at the same height. My Fork sag is still a little bit higher (shorter) than I would like, but I will redo measurements after our next phase. These WP 4CS forks seem to have alot more stiction than my last 2 KYB forks (TE310/TXC310R) and need more precise bouncing to get a good measure of sag.
 
I will continue to ride the .51 springs, and after the next phase if I still dont feel right I will drop to .48s then if too soft will do a combo .48 and .51 to get somewhere in the middle. I keep thinking .48 , but the pros while allowing me to choose say that the .51s are best for my weight and we need to get the oil/height/valve control correct. I need lots of confidence in my front, I dont move forward enough to load the front like pros do, its my ammie skill set taking over. So I want soft so it dives in even while im crouched in attack position or sitting at mid saddle.
 
The problem with the 4cs forks is that White Power has designed a specific part of them to be non-tunable. The way that most suspension workshops solve this issue is that they remove this part, which effectively converts your 4cs forks to "open bath" where they can be fully tuned once again like adding and removing cc's. I'm left wondering, what's the point? Adjusting the forks with or without removing these parts either way only yields a mediocre final product. And that might be okay with you, I'm not saying that it wouldn't.

Unfortunately the real fix is a more expensive one. No, not a complete fork exchange. We designed a new lower compression tap to fit the White Power stanchion claw. With this we can fit state of the art Marzocchi Shiver cartridges. This cuts the price down considerably while giving you a suspension system which is unchallengeable by 4cs forks.
 
/Criticism on. Are you still sporting that hunk of shit EE sharkfin? In a recent high level meeting at KTM, it was argued whether or not KTM should start retailing the EE sharkfin or not. Both Andy and Antti said hands down, the Zipty shark fin was the best. We'll see next race season if they are forced to run that thing.

It does not work in the Husky TE300/250 the boot is a different P/N than the XC and XC-W KTMs, I ordered the one for the KTM 2T machines, FMF does not list for new Huskys. I should have checked the P/N (still not even sure that KTM changed the common P/Ns for the new Husky to track brand parts usage? SO that said dont get a snap until they make one Husky (and probably Berg) specific. Danny let me know they may be making one for the new Huskys

It's you. Those two little words have greater meaning than a page of response. Secondly, our fin, is made out of 78,000psi Zycral, light as titanium, tougher than A56 steel. Bulletproof.
 
I just received my ZipTy Racing rear disc Shark Fin.....all I can say is wow. Its super light (very important for long lever arm unsprung weight (way out at the end of the swingarm), super well engineered, Aerospace quality machining and finishing, alot of thought to add lightening machined areas and beveled edges, the material is top tier,-----its a typical ZipTy product.
RFI- Ready for installation. It really is a much better/ a higher refined item than my other brand sharkfin.

PS Robertaccio has been in the Mil Aerospace biz since the early 80s.

Zycral (trade name) appears to be 7075-T6 alloy=tough lite stuff
 
OK part of this thread, been throwing suspension stuff up there. have many options but will stick with where Im at now and work with what ive got for more time and not get impatient....which really hit me this past weekend.

After diligent research and doing the OEM chart math we oversprung my forks somewhere about 2 rates high using .51KG/mm springs. I found the fork sag numbers off from the industry standards but not by much (vinduro/Dwight R spec),she sat kind of high, probably good for high speed dez racing. But I am getting beat up in rocky single track and hardcore rock climbs, that I can clean with no drama on my other machines (TE310 RaceTech/ then ZTR retuned and TXC310R 100%ZipTy suspended). Needs to be more plush enduro and less MX/SX****************************************

Also shes really not turning the way she should even with the correct rear spring (yes the rear is spot on the numbers with my eibach 6.1KG/mm (260mm length) with at or under 10mm preloaded spring, at mid 30smm static right near 100mm race/rider sag.) Note short sag fits me best as I tend to sit back more than the norm even on this Kato larger scale ergo bike.

We are going to install .48KG/mm springs (4.7 N/mm), following the OEM weight/spring chart math this rate fits me in all my modes perfectly 220-242 lb rider weight, local ride and race gear only, my nekkid 210 + basic gear + 2 liters of drink pack then my sometimes + 1 gal of belt carry fuel and sometimes a tool bag. On a full Baja backpack load I gotta be pushing the high range of 242 or most likely more, but thats not race mode thats just fun ride mode, so no worries there if im over weight for the forks. race mode is where they need to produce.

So that said Im still sticking with my Suspension 101/Smart modified OEM style 4CS forks (with .48KG/mm springs) and their nice and easy COMP and REB knobs up top for now anyway, but good news is there are now getting to be more and more 4CS options out there.

Ty has isolated the issue as well as a few others and is currently manufacturing the replacement parts. I'm not sure on the retail specifics but am pretty sure the items will be available through ProCircuit. We are still the US distributor for Marzocchi and I'm not sure what the conflict is.

I have the same problem with harsh suspension on the small chatter and little hits and no matter where you turn the clickers it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm pushing 240 and have yet to bottom these out with the compression all the way out on some pretty big hits. But before I bought these I did some research and like robertaccio's statement about not a lot of info out there rang true. But I have read several reviews that stated the clickers were very touchy and be easy adjusting them because a few clicks is a big change ( chilly white). That being said I talked to Ty the other day and he mentioned the base tap would be ready probably by the end of this week.
Will this make the hs comp on bottom and leave the rebound and mid comp on top?
