• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rokon versus Husqvarna automatic

Sent this video to Mike Murphy (Rokon Master) and he liked it. We just need to find an old 430 cylinder in order for him to do a mock up. We'll probably need an exhaust pipe too. I like this! Just throwing this out there to see what you Husky/Rokon Auto guys think of this amalgamation

I was a ROKON dealer back in the early 70's when the rt340 was introduced. actually raced an rt340 for about 3 years here in the southeast enduros. did fairly well in the enduros I ran with the rokon. it weighed 305 pounds ready to race w/toolkit, extra belt and full of fuel. was very dependable. did very well in muddy races and would devour hills. belt would slip a lot when submerged in a creek but you just had to keep engine rpms up to compensate for slippage. would dry out quickly when you emerged from water. there was very little engine braking but the front and rear disc were very good. did not seem to notice the heavy weight most of the time. had unbelievable topend speed. would just keep accelerating with the belt drive. actually purchased a factory built ISDT bike from rokon that did not go to ITALLY as it factory rider broke his leg before the bikes were shipped out. it was a hoss. it was a hybrid enduo/mx bike. wish I still had it. I also owned one of the husky 390 automatic bikes. very light compared to the rokon. fast also. it felt like it would actually go into neutral to me when you let of gas. never raced it though. would actually like to find a rokon to play with. hope this helps; I think most people would be supprised after riding a 340. most would be impressed. mike

Mike, nice write up. I agree with everything you said, and also think "most people would be surprised after riding a 340. most would be impressed," as well.
